I'd never heard one before, so maybe that's why I sought it out. I'm not going to use and/or make one though, just wanted to add it to my goofy house music playlist.

I have a chance to see Paul Devro and Sabo coming up but noone to go with. I mainly want to go for Devro. Would it be worth it to go see them alone? I guess its also the start of their moombahton residency in SF.

Not sure if he was mentioned, but araabMUZIK released a CD recently called "Electronic Dream"

Basically araab mixes popular dance/vocal trance songs with a MPC, utilizing drum-type beats/snares, etc. It was a different CD, I liked it. A few of my favorite tracks:

Also worth seeing is speedy J and ben sims. Marcel is boss too.

How is Speedy J live anyway? His early Plus8/Warp stuff is fantastic, but personally I think everything he's had out on Novamute has been pretty much terrible(so everything since 97 basically). I know he's started up his own label and had some new stuff out on it over the past couple of years, though I've not heard it.

I'm supremely jealous about all of that. I've seen most of those acts with the exception of Porter Robinson, who I'd kill to see live.

I've been digging this tune lately. It's quite large.

Avicii played a two hour set at my university last night. It was pretty epic to rage out with all my friends who ordinarily wouldn't go to such an EDM show, but it was completely style over substance.

Don't get me wrong - his tunes are great, but I didn't see Avicii put on his headphones a single time during the night (he kept them around his neck the whole time), and his transitions were simply from one tracks' outro to the intro of another song. Hell, the opening DJ mixed way better than him.

Playing three/four of his own remixes in a row (Drowning, Hang With Me, Rapture, Escape Me) also got monotonous - at least he ended it with a killer combo of Zombie Nation and Antidote.

UMass?

It terms of Avicii's sets hes definitely reached the "rock-star DJ" level and people that aren't really into EDM would be pissed if he didn't come in and play all his singles. I've seen him twice and while I agree he could probably mix it up a bit more I feel like that's not his selling point, people just want to rave the gently caress out to Levels and Blessed and that's it.

Holy crap, thanks for sharing about Snowglobe. I'm sharing it with all my burning man friends in Reno and we might end up all going. :toot:

*edit: Wait, it's outdoors, in Tahoe in the middle of the winter? :aaa: That could be fun for like an hour... but over three days, that just sounds too crazy, cold and not fun. Lame, I wish they'd found a way to make it indoors in one of the big casinos.
