I've got TheftAware and the only problem i have with it is remembering to reinstall it when I do a full wipe, it really is invisible. Also it plays exactly as advertised, totally worth the money.

Edit/ it seems to go on sale fairly frequently if its worth the hassle to ya.

I seldom do a full wipe but I was wondering how well it plays for the sort who is flashing CM nightlies often. If I were to put it in the in /system/app and put it in the CM Backup text file would it be completely hands off? It seems like it would.

I don't know if it's related, but since about the second day of me buying these 10 cent apps, my SGSII is randomly shutting off once or twice a day. Anyone else having any trouble?

I guess I'll try uninstalling them and see if it magically stops restarting or if I've got some annoying hardware problem.

If that fails, I guess I wipe the device.

Some of the $. 10 apps are pretty shifty. The flight control in particular from yesterday was said to have drm that needs data connection to call home or it crashes

That's not particularly shifty, all the Kairosoft games have the same DRM (including Game Dev Story). It's pain in the rear end if you're out of signal, but meh, it beats having no Android versions of their games.

That said, yeah, some of them are... I wouldn't say "shifty" but perhaps "looks good, built bad". Like a porn star with Alzheimer's.

I have no experience with the stock player, but on my MyTouch 4G, PowerAmp seems to take ~1% of battery/hour of music (320Kbps mp3s if that matters)

What happened to the ability to click on commenters in the Market to see the list of apps they had installed? I found 80% or more of the apps I liked that way, stuff that would never have shown up otherwise (buried in the Market's grand trash heap) like Etherophone. Is that functionality available anywhere anymore?

e: it was fun the way wandering Wikipedia is fun. "Oh, that looks interesting" and then in the comments for that app "Oh, that looks interesting" and all of a sudden you have to hit Back 100 times to exit the Market.

I'm using widget locker with the ICS theme, but I'd love for some way to control Google Music from the lock screen. Is there any way to do that? I tried Phantom Music controller and a couple other popular music widgets and none of them work well, or they FC widget locker or the player.

Why not Google Music's widget?

I use the default widget but it only lets you play/pause and skip to the next track. You have to open the actual app (which you can do from the widget) to go back, for example.

Also it's ugly.

FWIW, Pure Music Widget works with Google Music, but it can't load the album art if you're using a widget size that would normally show art.

I'm using Phantom Widget(paid) with Google Music currently and it works most of the time.

I'm looking for a way to use the built in lockscreen music controls, the simple Back, Pause/Play, Forward arrows that pop up when you are playing music in the default CM7 lock screens. They disappear when nothing is playing and are very straight up and simple.

Google Music widget is ugly, pure Music widget doesn't hide when nothing is playing, and Phantom Music (paid) only works half the time. Usually it says "no track is loaded" and when I click it it FC, and sometimes it makes Widget Locker FC.

If you're still using cm7 you can enable long-press volume to change tracks, don't even have to turn the screen on that way. no play pause for you though

Too late now but widget locker lets you add a slider that unlocks to an app of your choosing. I have 4 sliders, unlock/volume, camera/flashlight, screenfilter/astrid, phone/sms

Yeah Phantom Music is a little wonky with Google Music. When I tried it, if I hit pause or next track it would often open the stock player or the doubletwist player and start playing a random song. Then pause would just switch between the two music players. I emailed the dev and he was really great about trying to fix it, but ultimately neither of us could figure it out.

I thought the "trace path to unlock" was patented by Apple? The 2nd screenshot looks a blatant ripoff of the trace idea.

I'm downloading while it lasts...

Edit: Welp, not compatible with ICS, so Galaxy Nexus users are out in the cold.

I'm growing tired of the Amazon app store fighting with Market apps on my phone.

Example: I got Shazam free from Amazon's free app of the day a while back.

Since updates on Amazon are delayed, I got Shazam from the 10 cent sale on the Android Market.

Today, I received an update from the Market for Shazam. Updated.
Then, I opened the Amazon market, say yet another update for Shazam.

After updating via Amazon, the Shazam app will not open.

Annoying that the two markets are fighting over who's update is correct, rendering the app in question useless in the end.

Stick a fork in the Amazon fork already.

Skins with the slide to unlock have been available all over the internet for a few years now, going back as far as WinMo 6.0, I don't think anything is really gonna happen.

edit: you're probably right, I think Apple did create it, but it's been ripped off over and over ever since

China cares nothing about IP. Does Google remove apps from the Market or do the patent/copy holders have to go after the developer directly? I recall HTC pressuring some of the Sense clock copycats to subtly change the default skins.

Pretty sure amazon apps have some DRM in them that require the Amazon App store to be installed. Uninstall the app using the Amazon App store then redownload from the market.
