And even if it were, "but people we don't like do that too!" is not a valid counter-argument. For starters, fictional characters don't actually have a sexuality to demonize. The people "hurt" if some outside force intervened to make them less sexualized aren't the scantily-clad women characters, but the people who want to see them. Regardless of whether the character designs are in fact good or bad, that alone makes it a different issue.

I'm not gonna judge anyone for liking the game. I don't know much about Skullgirls. But my $0.02: I heard it was being developed by known members of the FG community, there was a lot of excitement over the systems and gameplay, etc, and I was intrigued. The cartoon art style looks very cool, but I'll be passing on it because of the characters. - Didn't get MK either for the same reasons - silly and embarrassing now that I'm grown up, have a gf and friends around often that I would just be embarrassed if they saw me playing it. I'm NOT saying that everyone who plays it should be embarrassed and I wouldn't judge someone for playing it, but as soon as my friends saw the characters and I had to tell them I was playing a game called "Skullgirls" I would turn it off. Again, I know that isn't a problem for many of you and some people have said things like "that's your fault for having friends who don't love it" but it's a VERY jarring aesthetic for some folks. - Sure, SF has Cammy and SC has lots of dumb designs but at least there's also Rose and Mitsurugi and Dudley and Astaroth etc. Characters being there is fine, but I like to pick characters that appeal to me and none of the SG characters do. It sounds horrible now that I'm typing it but I wish there were some male fighters to balance out the cast, I just can't shake the rumble roses vibe. Even some less same-y designs, like older or fatter female fighters even. Someone posted above that "only" 3 of the 7 characters were nearly naked or something. 1/7 or 3/30 is one thing, but half the cast is enough to lose my interest. So SG lost my money just because of that design choice. Again, just my OPINION and I hope SG does well and people dig it, and I respect going with their vision and such. I just wish the vision had been a little different because I can't get into it when I probably would if there was more variety. Same reason I never buy CoD or music games, as good as they might be if I'm not interested I won't play and they turned me off with the vibe of the game. I don't really think it's sexist any more than any game with titties and panty shots (e.g. not at all), I just don't like the general lack of alternatives. Like the character with giant orange arms is a cool start... then she has a short skirt and a shirt that hangs off the cartoon nipples. Make her a big orange monster and I'm there. Non-SG: Was that stuff Ono was teasing about a new Darkstalkers a while back determined to be just him begin hopeful and trying to get traction with his bosses? No actual project?

Game looks pretty fun I might pick it up, don't know if it will be able to pull me away from KOF/Melty/AH3, but I'll give it the one or two month go around. I still have a bad feeling the game is going to be all but dead in 2-3 months, at least locally.

Yeah, but the PC piracy industry is also unbelievably massive in China. I know back in the day ( ) the neo-geo KOF games were all emulated on PC and I'm pretty sure there were online options. I guess I just assumed it's still a thing.And yeah, KOFXIII has been unplayable online on my PS3 so far- it's partly my internet connection though I'm sure. Blatant ripoffs of good games are very rarely good themselves. That's not to say that doesn't happen, Monday Night Combat was a really good game in spite of being kind of a TF2 ripoff. Although the sequel blows poo poo so far so take that how you will.

Well the thing is most ripoffs are also not made by competent companies which Tencent is. Also "online piracy" is probably a nonissue in this situation because it's almost undoubtedly going to be a cash shop game with servers.
