I really like Ad Astra, Mantra III and On Fire, some solid rocking albums

Mammatus seems scratch the itch quite well! Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound is nice even though not really what I'm looking for. Spiritual Beggars is too straight up rock n' roll for me. Thanks for all the suggestions.

If you like Mammatus you should definitely check out Naam. They have a really solid album out and a new one coming out next year.

Earthless is also a sweet bet, but they're a lot more jammy than most stoner metal. You shall boogie, this I promise you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCEACSH8YBE

Gonna keep the recommendation train rolling with Tia Carrera, which was recommended to me earlier in the thread when I was looking for something similar to Earthless, and maybe Sungrazer as well. Also want to thank m-o-o-n for posting Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound. Great band.

Along similar lines to Mammatus and Earthless, who obviously loving rule, seriously check out Viaje a 800. Can't remember if 35007 has been mentioned yet, but they also kill it.

Speaking of Earthless, I recently picked up Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky on vinyl and it still is an amazing record. I just want the songs to go on forever.

You guys are great! Earthless, Sungrazer and 35007 seem to be great bands. Definitely digging the space rock vibe of the latter. I was already aware of Naam but had forgotten I even knew the band. So thanks for pointing me back to it. I could also contribute Ufesas here. Hmm, the album was free for download just a month ago. Oh well, 50 cents ain't that much either. Really digging their way of developing sonic scapes, makes me think of desert and cactus juice. Wolf People has a couple of great songs too even though I didn't find the full album that enjoyable. They're more neo 70s rock than stoner though. This may be stretching it but early UFO is awesome too although they tend to be more straight up rock n' roll than sabbathy stuff. Anyone got any jam tracks for sludge/stoner stuff? Anything with just bass and drums or drums on their own?

Yeah, I really want to see to Yob again and wouldn't mind seeing Tool but $55 before fees is a bit too rich for my blood. Definitely well-deserved for Yob though. I saw Yob in a tiny venue here in Atlanta this summer, it'd be interesting to see them in a big arena. I want to see how the more casual fans react to Yob's mega-doom.

I can't stop thinking about Yob through an arena sound system. I also can't stop thinking about what Tool fans will think of Yob. It reminds me of King Crimson reportedly getting booed when they did a stint with Tool.

There's always this talk about Tool fans being the worst but I've no idea if that holds any truth to it or not.

They just can't push the deafening small-room reverberations that makes live YOB so mindblowing. OTOH, it's YOB doing an arena tour!!! I hope tool fans are respectful (or like the music). Mike is such a nice guy, I'd hate to see him get booed because a bunch of teenagers don't understand that bands have set-times so YOB isn't actually keeping tool from playing that 4 1/2 hour set they expected.

By the way, has any of you guys ever been to Duna Jam in Italy? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKsC5474Qes I'd love to attend but it's a terrible shame they can only take in around 150 people. Makes me wish I had never even heard about the whole drat thing. Of course it's impossible for them to keep the venue as it is and increase the size of the audience but come on - why do they even advertise themselves if they can barely take in their circle of friends and a couple of random dudes? I, too, want to enjoy a psychedelic stoner live trip in this scenery.
