Still it's cool as gently caress, and I like your music. where can I find the lyrics for cool out mthrfkr and tracing?

iron chic posted:Also, I just started listening to Propagahndi a couple of months ago. Less Talk More Rock is like the perfect album! I guess I always assumed they were a boring skate punk band that somehow remained relevant. If you always brushed them off, you're missing out. I feel that the band really matured from Todays Empires onward, the last three albums are some of my absolute favourite records. I still really like the snotty up-yours punk of their first releases, but sonically they have expanded so much in recent years that you could be mistaken it was a separate band. I-Spy was recommended earlier in the thread, has a lot of similarities to Propagandhi and even has the same bass player. Their discography is on youtube here: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

I've never been into Propagandhi, mostly because they have that typically teenaged-American sound, nasal vocals and everything. But if you say they've matured, maybe I should check out some of their newer records.

On the other hand, Against All Authority is somewhat similar and is probably one of my all-time favorite bands.

They've become a lot more hardcore, and have a veyr crossover-thrash sort of sound now. It's a little metal int he instrumentation for my taste, but the lyrics are very good. Humane meat is probably my favourite of their songs, but that's not on youtube. So instead rock out to fedallah's hearse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vQbgpac-V4

Supporting Caste really is quite a good album. I dislike their early efforts, but their new thrashier sound appeals to me more, but that is probably because came into punk after years and years of metal. You know the track 'Dear Coach's' Corner? Is it referring to some specific event that took place or just the general nationalistic chest thumping that is prominent in sporting?

I'm super excited because I just got the jackets in for my next release, so I figured I would post it here since I follow this thread and post every few months. By February the whole thing should come together, but you can check out a few songs at their bandcamp. The band is called Seas Will Rise and it's along the lines of His Hero is Gone and Tragedy, it was even mastered by one of the guys that in From Ashes Rise. http://seaswillrise.bandcamp.com/ Also while I'm at it, you can listen to the first release I did by a band from Phoenix called Gay Kiss. Terrible name, I know. For fans of pg.99, Walls, and Born Against. http://anxietymachinerecords.bandcamp.com/ Does anyone else put out records? Let's talk about business.

Nationalistic chest-thumping in sports would fit the bill, but Coach's Corner is specifically a Hockey Night in Canada feature. One of the co-hosts, Don Cherry, is pretty intolerant of a bunch of poo poo (Europeans, women, anyone who isn't a "GOOD OLE CANADIAN BOY") while Ron MacLean (the guy who's being addressed to in the lyrics) is usually pretty level-headed and tries to keep him in check. There's also, on a consistent basis, mention of soldiers who recently died overseas, which is something that doesn't really have a place on a hockey game analysis segment. Last year the NHL literally had soldiers rappelling from the ceiling to give some players awards during their post-season ceremony Some choice Don Cherry youtubes: On women: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRm_K9OpYbo On "left wing pinko media": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ1DzYck3D8 On native-americans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5p5r6tiK6M&feature=related He's been doing this poo poo for years.

Chris Hannah took his niece to a hockey game and during the national anthem a bunch of soldiers rappelled down from the rafters and she was terrified and he was so disgusted that he grabbed her and left. He talked about it on some podcast a few years ago but damned if I can remember which one.

Trash talk is powerviolence 101 with charles bronson, so I guess look up anything powerviolence-ish? Charles Bronson, Punch, Capitalist Casualties, Seige, Infest, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Man Is The Bastard, Iron Lung, Dropdead, Despise you, Nasum, Carcass, Bucketfull of Teeth, Spazz? Those bands should be a good starting point man EDIT: Also big willy style above you is involved in an australian powerviolence or hardcore band if I recall correctly. I remember it being pretty good stuff, so maybe he can drop a link again to the album. I want to say it was Either Downpour, Malachi, or Machete, but I could be wrong and don't want a combat boot to the face Quantumfate fucked around with this message at 23:38 on Jan 5, 2012 |
