I think the robo thugs/robot hugs thing is funny, which is why I didn't put a space in there.

My biggest shame in life is missing Goth-Trad when he first came here. I had just pulled a near 48 hour shift with no sleep finishing off an artwork for an exhibit, was sitting in the bar upstairs pissing away a couple hours till the show started and I just pure zonked out in the booth. Couldn't face it, so I had to split. The shame, the shame! Luckily I've seen him a couple times so it makes up for it - highly recommended.

The album will be immense.

Another fun thing out this week is the Kowton Vs Dusk split single, out now on Keysound. Some nice wee haunted garage Ghost-like number here from Dusk, with the remix that kinda techs it up a bit. The Kowton side is another garagey cut, vocally with metallic clanging things going on. Very nice release.

Looks like Cactus is dropping on Hessle Audio this February, absolutely cannot wait for this!!!! http://www.hessleaudio.com/HES019.html

Also Rinse released all the Room 1 sets from their Boxing Day Fabric takeover (podcasts are also starting to be updated) http://rinse.fm/2012/01/rinse-boxing-day-fabric-room-1-sets/

Also has anyone heard the new Skepta tune? It's loving awful. Hold On is an atrocious single and it does not bode well for his new album.

Hold On would be passable if they ripped out the atrocious white boy rocking chorus, the bland riddim and set fire to the master tape of the video (giant union jack behind a fake rock band? get it right tae gently caress). So that leaves 2 verses which actually now I think about it are pretty pish poor anyway.

At least some of the other more poppy grime stuff is actually enjoyable enough to dance to and guiltily enjoy. Hold On's just blah. But hey it's currently charting at 31 and will probably end up mid-10s (if not higher) like his last single, so what do I know.

Mosquito and Planet X are coming on vinyl-only late next month, apparently.

Edit: although what I want to know is how I can get my hands on the second tune in his Redlight Music mix (the one with the vocal sample saying 'get it up') and his Destiny's Child bootleg.

I think so. I remember hearing some stuff on Rinse about a year or so ago. But it's been quiet since then I think. Don't think he really liked the whole 2009/10 skank craze thing. Seemed to kill him and a couple of others off.

So announced a few days ago and seemingly ignored by everyone (including me!) is Mark Radford is doing the next Rinse CD. Actually really looking forward to this as for the past few months - now that I'm pennyless and on the dole - Mark Radford's Saturday night show has been locked on my dials. Or bookmarks or whatever it is nowadays. Really smooth 'n' slinky, kinda European slightly techy but not really techy cool Housey stuff (now that's a description and a half!). If you liked the Kismet Rinse mix and that whole Circle sound you'll probably like this. Unless the disc turns out crap, but I doubt it.

Tracklist:

01/ Point of No Return – Alex Niggeman
02/ Some People – Rekleiner
03/ Sin City – Mark Henning
04/ Dark Room (John Tejada Mix) – Max Cooper
05/ Wet – Steve Bug
06/ Speechless (Carl Craig Remix) – Agoria
07/ In the Dark – James What
08/ Over You (Wildcats Remix) – Lee Brink
09/ Around (Subban Remix) – Noir & Haze
