Is there anything to be done about spam texts to my cellphone? I just started a new job and moved out, and on all sorts of paperwork I've put my cell number down as my home phone since I don't have a landline. Now every couple hours I get texts for super cheap auto insurance, payday loans, fake at&t offers, ect. I also get constant calls from some scam called cardholder services. I thought spam and unsolicited texts/calls to cellphones were made illegal a while ago and they are doing it anyway, so I doubt there is anything I can do. Is my only option just to ignore them and hope they stop?

I have no idea how light spectrum or color works on a light bulb but recently my desk lamp light stopped working and I have the following options: 2700K color 3000K color 3500K color 4100K color 5000K color 6500K color Honestly, I don't even know what those numbers mean... which one should I buy? I have a question about iTunes: I want to buy some music off it (namely, Ace Combat OSTs, since they are stupidly expensive in physical form), yet as I understand it, by buying iTunes I buy files that are only played in an iTunes application on a given PC (or iPod). Is there a way to buy an album off iTunes and just transfer individual music tracks to my MP3 player or PS3, or would that be impossible and/or breach of contract with iTunes? The price is very tempting, but being able to only play it on a computer does not.

If I mix 750ml of grain aclochol (95% abv) with 750ml of nonalcholic mix, the resulting fluid would be 47.5% abv. Correct? I'm making cinnamon apple "moonshine" from a recipe for a gift. If I mix 750ml of everclear with 1.5Gallons (5700ml) then the resulting fluid should be only 11.05% abv or am I screwing up my math some where. The guy who gave the recipe says it is supposed to be strong, but this seems less than most mixed drinks.

Ridonkulous posted:If I mix 750ml of grain aclochol (95% abv) with 750ml of nonalcholic mix, the resulting fluid would be 47.5% abv. Correct? Your math is correct. A shot of liquor is 1.5 oz, and most liquors are 80 proof, or 40%abv, so .6oz of alcohol per shot. Twelve ounces of your mixture (a typical US beer) would have 1.3oz of alcohol, so it's fairly strong.

That sounds right to me, just estimating in my head: the active ingredient (the liquor) is about 14% of the end product, and if it's 95% alcohol, then there you go. Yeah, a glass of it would be like 2 glasses of strong beer.

Wikipedia on the Antarctic krill: It is a key species in the Antarctic ecosystem and is, in terms of biomass, probably the most abundant animal species on the planet (approximately 500 million tonnes). However, in biomass (ecology), it states that cattle could also be a contender, there being about 1.3 billion of them. The biomass article, actually, probably has all the answers you want. What was surprising to me is the vast majority of biomass is on land; this is because there's so many more land plants than ocean plants.

Why do Brits say "Go to hospital" while North Americans say "Go to the hospital"? Obviously, there are more than just those two groups that say either one, but those two are the most obvious opposing groups. Which one is correct? Did Americans (many direct British descendants) ever say it without "the" during the early years of the United States? I'm assuming that Canadians said it the same way the Brits do as late as WWII era or even later.

We also say "they're in hospital" rather than "in the hospital", like "hospital" is a state to be in, like "on vacation". Can't really explain it. I always thought of it as 'hospital' not being the physical building, but a state of being. Kind of like how when someone's dying, they can be referred to as 'being in hospice' not 'being in THE hospice'. One is in reference to a specific building, the other just suggests their status. If that makes any sense.

Being in hospital sounds like it's a state of being, but I guess it could be because you're sick (if you're not part of the staff that is). But then again, we say "Did you go to university?" At least we say that in Canada. Also, saying "the hospital" makes it sound like there's only one. But a hospital is one of those places where there may be only one or a few nearby. The most correct thing to say would be to name the hospital if you know the name.
