DocBubonic posted:Nice to see games able to make it over a year. Its also interesting to hear that there was a big change in the character line up. Blackbird Dreaming started in 2007 and has replaced the entire original group of players. It's possible to do. While not as old as Revin, Blackbird Dreaming, or September Procession, my X-Com game has been rolling for 18 months or so and has seen quite a bit of character turnover. Though, it might be a little different because I advertised it as a high mortality game.

Yeah, it's basically the kind of game where one bad roll kills you, and that the ultimate enemy of all mankind is corners. Seriously, how many of the deaths have come because someone rounded a corner into an Overwatching Xeno? Many of them!

No Place Like Home lasted from mid 2008 until 2010, but unfortunately things got crazy for me and it died. I think we had two of the original characters, though one of the initial players never posted a single thing in the thread.

Really loving the very intriguing Crown of Neverwinter--the character interactions and the political situation in the city has me hooked. So does the rather nasty fight currently happening that just had, for me, an "oh poo poo!" moment. Hurry up I wanna see what happens next!

I have never seen a paranoia pbp work out. The entire game is about thinking on your feet, and pbp is too meditative. There are games all the time on synirc.net in #paranoia. Last night we imprisoned higher ups on rolling chairs and stole sluglaunchers set to "fun".

Welp. In the Midwestern Marauders we had our first true character death. Beaten to death with a giant turkey sausage. That's Gamma Terra for ya. Also, you guys should all go sign up for the other Gamma World game currently recruiting.

Yeah that turkey log crit would have taken out pretty much anyone. Smithsonian at full would have survived but few others would, let alone after we had started to take a beating. Is there any saving Junior? Does he make death saves or is he completely atomized? Now that I think about it it is kind of surprising that it took this long for someone to die, it seemed like Gamma World was kind of lethal yet we managed to survive, with a few close calls.

I am pretty interested in getting into a PBP game sometime soon. Especially through my deployment starting in FEB where I wont really have the chance to pen and paper. I would like to play anything sci-fi, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, and fantasy if it is GURPS or non 4e based. Ill keep watchign the recruitments for opportunities that pop up.

If you want to live vicariously through someone else's GURPS, DocBubonic's Time of Death has a great start. I read through the first 500 posts in one sitting (so I'm halfway through the thread, drat), it's been great & I have high hopes for where the story goes from where I left off.

Oh boy, someone's getting PK'd in Neverwinter. I was hoping that someone would do this during the sewer level, but now is a good time as well. This should be fun. All they have to do is ready an action to hit him if he does anything, and I think they can interrupt his interrupt. Either that or it's a roll-off. If Neverwinter wanted an undead ruler, they'd side with the Red Wizards.

One of the shortsighted things one can do in an intrigue game is bare one's fangs early an individual of equal or greater power, since that basically tells everyone else what's going on. The other shortsighted thing one can do is to bare one's fangs against a party member while in the presence of other party members, since party members are the closest thing to being individuals you can understand and thus trust (it's very hard to be absolutely sure that helpful NPCs aren't just using you and waiting to stab you in the back later, which limits the critical tasks you can assign them). There are at least two possible ways this can go down. 1) Moros attacks at 1d20+8 or so against an AC of 15. One in three shot of missing, in which case your target is alive and able to retaliate. If he hits, he hits for what, 2d8+4 against a dude who dies at -13? It could be enough to kill him, but isn't a guarantee. In the meantime, he has the world's unluckiest barbarian who still has a dazing rage vs his Will of 13 (who can then push Moros one square away from Faolan, rendering him unable to touch Faolan in melee), an AP (with an extra MBA from the Warlord's presence), and Avalanche Strike as an encounter power on the side of the guy he's trying to kill, while in his corner Moros *might* have Keely (assuming she doesn't decide that he's too drat dangerous for his own good, what with being an undead pawn of the nine hells). If Benny gets rolling and doesn't completely bomb, he can alpha-strike Moros into next week, even with his rubbish weapon. 2) Everyone stands down and the game goes on. But since Moros threatened Faolan's life after throwing a tantrum, he's basically declared that not only does he do not value companions above personal pride, but also that he's varying degrees of unhinged, which (along with the whole "technically dead" thing) is the kind of thing that gets people passed over for succession (and may make any of his current buddies really rethink their alliances). Moros' Will is his lowest defense, and he's a leather armored melee striker, which means that he sheds HP by the truckload, and since he's a revenant, it means that not only does he not fall over when he drops below 0, but he gets dazed and grants CA as well. This means that if there ever comes a time when he's deep in the negatives and it's Faolan's turn, Faolan can simply throw a mind blast at him at the lowest defense with CA and punch Moros' ticket on the Asmodeus express (who surely will give him a warm welcome after coming back from the grave empty-handed). And Moros has done his damndest to convince the party that this is a fantastic idea. Because if he loses his poo poo over petty insults like this, then as a ruler he's going to end up declaring war on Waterdeep when one of the nobles snubs him in their usual fashion. I am just not sure if Moros thought his cunning plan all the way through. What did he think this would accomplish? Looking forward to how you get out of this one. Thank you! It's been a joy to run so far even if I do have trouble getting the pacing between balls-to-the-wall action and exposition-nonsense right at times. It's brilliant to know that there are people reading it and enjoying it and I would love to hear peoples guesses/ideas as to what's going on with Lilian and the scary voices in Adalicia's head.

On the topic of Mary/Lillian, I'm not sure what to think anymore. At first I thought that Lillian was a separate personality Mary created to deal with her powers blooming. Now, with the scanner giving us different readings based on whoever is in charge at the time, I have no idea. The third voice whispering in their head is clearly a separate entity. Pretty sure that's what the blob actually is. Could it be a symbiote? Spiderman does exist in the universe. I think we'll need to know more about the night they got their powers before I can figure this poo poo out. Also, what scary voices in Hulk-Girl's head? Think I missed something here... Winson_Paine posted:Also Doug's radness, Doug is rad as hell. Oh god, Doug. You do obnoxious 14-year old with superpowers way, way too well. I occasionally want to punch the little berk in the head. (Not that he'd feel it.) All of you guys are doing an awesome job with your supers. Particularly Orfeo, since I really hated his character when he was introduced. I kind of wish he'd post a little more and get more involved in the action, but honestly he's been pretty consistent with his guy's personality, and I"m looking forward to seeing where his story goes. Sion, if you ever lose your mind and decide to add one more person to this game, I'd love to take over John. A guy with a mechanical voice like Steven Hawking who uses his actual voice to deliver explosive one-liners and has a crush on the Giantess? Sign me the hell up!

Nuggan's Black Crusade game is starting to get somewhat ridiculous. So far we've pulled a Weekend at Bernie's and used a dead tech-priest to convince some other tech-priests we were on their side. Immediately after, I slap a guy on the back, causing him to discharge his harpoon into the back of one of the tech-priests walking away, and when I pull out my heavy flamer, I set off the large fuel canister they were carrying. Originally impaled tech-priest is still dangling from the tether of the harpoon gun, so I yank on it, it comes free, and the dead priest free-falls several hundred feet and lands on a cherubim. Feel good thread of the year.

Didn't Kill the Red Dragon last around that time if not longer? I knew it went on for absolute ages.

Actually, I'm going to open recruitment in the next week or so. I was going to let the current possible nuclear holocaust play out before opening the doors for new players. It'd suck to have someone go to the trouble of coming up with an entry only to have everything change up on them as soon as they started posting in the game.
