*AHEM* I believe the rules stipulate a respectable racing livery and what you've got there... Just joshin' you, looking forward to the race tonight!

If that is true, Street tires must be used if available, or stock tires as a last resort. Having the same tire compound across the board helps keep braking distances more even, as an example. This *should* reduce the chances of sim-damage catastrophes...

Allright I had to stop after getting a time of 2:00.373 anymore and I would have broken my controller in my rage. The Dodge Challenger has the worst handling and braking. I'll probably take a stab at it again tonight but GODDAMN.

Huh, due to the number of people using the rivals mode, bounties go up to 250k now.

The best advice I can give is to enter corners from the outside, brake for turns a little earlier than you think you should need to, and try to take corners in such a way as to straighten out as quickly as possible. Even if it means taking the corner more slowly. I know it's not much, but I really don't know what else to tell you.

The braking is fairly decent, unless I just sort of don't apply enough pressure. Another stupid question - I'm not in GTCC, nor have I raced in the series before. Am I elligable if there's an opening?

Does anyone else find the Australian V8's really hard to keep straight? I can corner fine but I feel like I'm sliding everywhere when going down straights. I use a controller though, maybe that has something to do with it. Also I've been working on a Mazdaspeed Familia for hopes I can join the guys in BTCC, surprisingly a really fun car to drive once you've beef'd it up a bit. crabfriend fucked around with this message at 00:37 on Feb 9, 2012 |

Yeah those v8's with a controller feels like they are on ice. They step out more than the Agera which has just ridiculous HP/TQ numbers but is quite easy to drive.

It's odd how different similar cars can be. The R1998 racers all have almost identical stats, but when I drive the Peugeot or Audi, I slip and slide everywhere, while the Aston is rock solid. So who knows.

Once you get that figured out, you can start pushing back your braking points. I ran a 1:4something.something. It'll take a few laps, but you can definitely beat his time.

Everything after the corkscrew seems to be the most vital area of the track for keeping your speed up, especially getting the proper line off that final turn so you can build as much speed as possible heading to the line. It definitely takes some practice though, I just barely managed to get 1:46.9xx after a dozen or so laps of working on those last few turns. It's pretty amusing that my standing start lap was almost a whole second faster than Rampage's best time. I wonder if he's going to try and post a better one at all this month or not.

This might be a tad retarded, but how do I upgrade/tune my car in Rivals mode? I tried one of the drag events to see how I'd fair against the AUGR goons and ended up at the bottom of the list because I was using an E class Golf GTi and everyone else had A class hatchbacks. Do I have to own the car, upgrade it, then select it when I pick the challenge?

Others are really good at beating really really good fighters in a car racing game over the internet.

Lap 1, for me, was learning it had no brakes at all, and lap 2 was dirty because of a screwup braking for the final corner. I stopped after 3 laps when I got a 1:50.xxx and was happy because I now never have to drive that crapbox again. I would bet his real car drives even worse than the in-game version, and that Turn 10 "helped" it a bit in the handling and braking departments. That thing reminds me of so many modded cars. All engine with stock (or worse) everything else.

I think the issue most people have with this situation is: "Here's a guy who fancies himself a car customizer, and sycophants at some terrible Rims Shop agreed based on his skill in some other arena, then let him put 24" wheels on something that started as a horrible pig-dog of a car before he somehow ruined it worse... and then presents the package as an upgraded version. Which he himself can't even drive quickly. I wonder why he thinks he's a car customizer. Oh right - because he punched a dude efficiently that one time, and fame transcends all shortcomings."

Or maybe there are a lot of Rampage Jackson fans and some of them work at Turn 10 and figured it would be fun to put in some random car. The neat thing about this car is that you don't have to buy it or use it. but I am sure a lot of people will look at it and think "Neat, wouldn't mind that in my garage." I wouldn't mind a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon in game, because I own one. It's a slow piece of Chrysler poo poo, but it would still be cool to have one.

I wouldn't doubt that a lot of cars in the game have fudged handling, simply because nobody in their right mind would allow their rare and expensive car to be flogged on a race track and risk it getting damaged or totaled just for some video game. I'm just glad they don't take it to cartoony levels like Gran Turismo 4 and 5 did with the SEMA cars in their lineups. Besides, the car's real world handling is probably irrelevant because what are the odds that Rampage even takes that car beyond highway speed, especially after his little fun run back in '08?

Looks like I sorted out the throttle issues with my Fanatec. I could only get 70 to 95% throttle with full pedal depression. Turns out it was due to the magnetic sensor on the pedal being dirty. Gave it a good clean with brake cleaner and she's good to go.

They could have even thrown in the truck and then have a track day style rivals challenge where you weave around DLC Impalas with the police aero...And as stupid as it is, I can't overlook the fact that the challenger has 16 inch wide tires.
