Oh, okay. I follow. Man, in other news, I've been kicking around the local goodwills, trying to find a briefcase or small suitcase I can turn into a pedalboard, 'cos I've got basically nil dollars these days---new job doesn't start for a month. The search is not going well, sadly. Either the locks will be hosed up, or it's not quite the right size, or the outside is curved for some godunknown reason...

New guitar day! Bought an Epiphone Elitist 1965 Casino off craigslist. The difference is pretty crazy compared to my MIK. Feel pretty silly owning two of the same guitar but I just like them okay twins

Just picked up a 10-string guitar, a Tenayo Orfea. It's not as nice as a Bartolex, but I got it used at about half the price. Fit and finish are a little rough, and there's some slight raising by the saddle that I probably need to have looked at, but that aside it's been pretty cool overall.

I picked up a KORG DS-1H half damper pedal for my Korg Micropiano. It was expensive, but it is a lovely solid pedal, and being able to quarter/half/three-quarter damp the sustain is lovely

Yay! A Vox AC30. This sounds a billion times better than the little orange practice amp I've been using. It's also much, much louder, which I'm sure my roommates/neighbors will enjoy. I think I messed up my back pulling it out of my car, the thing weighs a ton.

Sup AC30 buddy! Mine has been making an occasional funky fuzzy noise when I play certain notes lately that can't be right. I'm not sure if I've blown a speaker (seems unlikely, since I think if I had it loud enough to do that, it would break my windows) or if my pickups/wiring are somehow screwed up. I will get to the bottom of this, damnit! Cpt. Spring Types fucked around with this message at 20:22 on Feb 12, 2012 |

It's a great practice amp; tone is good, ton of effects, and it's got an aux-in which is useful. Also a headphone jack so my roommates don't beat the poo poo out of me when I'm screwing around at 3am. I haven't owned that many amps, but I have no complaints so far.

I picked up a few things last week, pictures are kind of lovely for right now but I have no good lighting in my house at the moment Picked up an arctic white Telecaster, to replace one I traded away years ago. For a mexican Tele, this thing plays as good as quite a few americans I've tried. Plan on swapping out the electronics and possibly the pickups depending on how they sound after that. Also a Line 6 DL4 so I can pretend to be from Minus the Bear. And a large pack of my favorite picks, Dunlop Maxgrip Carbon Jazz III's I can't wait to get an actual amp in a few weeks!

^^HOLY poo poo I did a double take when I saw that tele because one of my best friends got his tele deluxe stolen from his practice space over the weekend (along with $4,000 worth of other poo poo) and his was white with a white pickguard. At a glance it looked like the same thing but his also had some obvious cosmetic mods so it's clearly not yours. Funny coincidence though! I've never owned a single coil electric before but I have the feeling I could get down with a tele, that looks like a pretty sweet guitar. *which reminds me, is there a thread in ML for reporting stolen gear? It's a common problem for musician's, and a lot of people who post here probably check out craigslist and local pawnshops a lot...just saying. forever whatever fucked around with this message at 02:45 on Feb 21, 2012 |

I did get this one used, but it came with the receipt and paperwork and from a very nice 67 year old man. Didn't seem like the thief type. I've missed single coils, I have an 8 string humbucker guitar as well, so its completely different. I'd like to get a blacktop telecaster next and paint it seafoam green. I think I'd have all my guitar range covered I would need then.

But if you buy used gear, I guess it's always a possibility (btw if anyone near Asheville, NC sees a white Fender Tele Deluxe with some lightning bolts epoxied to the body, call the police, it belongs to a friend of mine)...Do single coils really have a noticeably higher degree of hum than well, humbuckers? I like double coils because the tone is so rich and saturated but I'm also so used to it it's hard to imagine playing anything else.

Yeah, these things can be pretty drat noisy. I haven't had a chance to look under the pickguard, but I suspect the shielding will be quite lackluster if there at all. With that it should be better, but they still will be noisy. A noise gate always helps that though.

Play that thing in as many smokey bars as is possible. White Telecasters with maple necks take on a sexy quality when exposed to cancer and tar that is beyond the English language after a time. I still want my buddy's white MIM Tele for that reason, and I'm going to eventually drink myself to death for that very reason.

Wellp, soon to be mine, selling my Fireball (anyone in Perth want to buy it?) and getting the 6505 sitting below it in this pic: It's heavily modded, uses different tubes, has had one of the transformers and the filter caps changed and sounds like unholy hell (we used it on my band's album). Only problem is I can't actually get it for a couple of weeks because it's being used by a friend until his new amp arrives, a motherfucking DAR FBM: I don't even know what all that spangly poo poo around the power tubes is but the fact that it lights up orangey red makes me want one. Metal guitarists are suckers for shiny poo poo.
