Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not the one who made the loss art, but it was another goon somewhere in this thread. I'll try to look him up so he gets the proper credit. I merely purchased it from him/her and put it on this car.

That's not really pricey in Forza 4, that's 2 minutes in Rivals mode. Has Rivals mode not wrecked the storefront economy? (or do folks just not care)

Considering that, from what I can tell, half the people who post on Forzamotorsport.net sell everything for 0 credits because of some passive-agressive "protest" against people who hack save files to unlock paint jobs purchased off the storefront.

Also, I think 50k is really the upper limit for selling things on the storefront. I'd probably be more willing to shell out 50k space bucks if it wasn't for the fact that I'm trying to buy enough cars to get the 300+ car badge and the 'all ferraris' acheivement.

If nothing else, the credits you get from running absurd amounts of laps trying to shave that last .002 seconds off will add up quickly. It's also a good way to test out cars you wouldn't normally use much because they're not qualified to enter many Event List races.

Attempting to get a good, clean time in the traffic challenge rivals events is a pretty decent way to learn how to drive fast around idiot pubbies online. Can be frustrating as hell though, so be warned you may find yourself yelling and screaming at a Prius going 13 MPH around a corner with no passing space. It's just like real life roads!

You just need a friends list/club with a bigger variation in skill. :science:

That way you never have to worry about beating that one dick who posts times 20 seconds faster than anyone else, you can just chill out in the middle of the pack and work on it when you're in the mood.

The autocross events are a good way to practice low speed maneuvering in high-powered cars that don't like being in first gear, if you have the patience to run each one a few times. Makes getting around those granny drivers in their Lianas and Beetles a touch easier when you know how the car will react as you try to squeeze past at a safe speed.

I have found something better than Rivals mode. It's Hot Lapping in Free Play mode. It still records your highest time, you can still race against ghosts and choose from your friends/club, the ghosts that you race against don't obscure your view, you get to race against your chosen ghost and your previous lap ghost, and you can race any car on any track.

The only downside is you don't get credits, and so you don't level up. Which does suck, but I play this game for fun, not space bux, so I'll live with it.

This discovery just saved this game for me.

Fill a private multiplayer room with AI drivers and you get total control over how the race is set up, AND you get credits and experience like normal! Granted you can't pause while in a race, but if you aren't running 50 lap endurance races that's not really a problem.

On track day rivals, yeah. The ones with all the suicidal cars trundling along at 15 and actively trying to kill you. The Fujimi one is awesome, but it's also 9 minutes of not hitting a wall or getting thwacked by some dicklord computer in a subcompact.

Normal events it's not a problem (though I did gently caress up like 6 laps in a row on Road Atlanta last night), but those track day ones are more trouble than they're worth as soon as you get into the clean laps part of the list.

Honestly, hotlapping is 90% of what I do in this game anymore. I'll pick a track, pick 5 of my cars in the same PI class, and see which one I can post the best lap time out of 4 laps with. It's sometimes really surprising. I know it is not the optimal form of play by any objective standards, but it works for me.

I knew hot lapping existed, but I didn't know it had all of those nice features. If it pumped out credits, it would be exactly what Rivals ought to have been.

I disagree because running absurdly slow laps still nets you a lot of cash simply because people like you get too frustrated and don't bother. Just taking the time to be cautious around AI cars end up paying off and I find them to be the easiest events to do in increments since I'm not focused on shaving off that last .002 but rather just not being hit.

Of course I've reached a point in many of the track day events where I DO have to look for that extra .002 now but you get my drift.

Forza needs to break the "you must always finish first to progress" mentality.

Five laps around Nurburgring in free play should net more credits than two laps of Class E singleplayer, for instance.

Okay, so I've done the math, and figured out four things:

a) I need 82 more cars to get the badge for 300 cars in garage.

b) With my current credits, this means I can buy one car that costs $33,000, 82 times to meet this goal.

c) Goons like painted cars, I like painting cars.

d) So let's paint one car 82 times and give them away to goons because you're all such nice people.

So, I'm going to work on a design, and present it here. The trick is, I want you guys to pick the car. Only rules, it must be under $33,000 (though it could go to $35,000 easily, what with Rivals and all), and it can't be DLC.

Before you think I'm being lazy, I've already got inspiration for the actual design in the works.
