Splizwarf posted:You mean ICS runs without any functionality issues on the OG Droid? Because that'd be cool, in which case you're right, that's not a fair comparison on my part, although it doesn't hurt the point I was trying to make about what jc821 said. Last time I read about the OG, I thought there were still a lot of issues, mostly because of a lack of space. vv You're the one that brought up iOS, so what exactly about iOS5 runs so bad on the 3GS? I've got one right now and (anecdotal) it runs as well as if not better than any android phone I've seen.

I'll tell my wife that, she'll be happy to hear that stuff like background processing not working and the notifications that rely on background processes crashing her phone have magically disappeared overnight. Thanks for the heads-up, she was hating it yesterday! Are there any bluetooth keyboard options with Android buttons like the Xoom one that work better (or have a configurable timeout)? Also, is anyone else already using the High Frequency Sound thing for peripherals that the Kickstarter stylus was advertising? Splizwarf fucked around with this message at 21:04 on Feb 16, 2012 |

So I think my estimation of having my tablet back from asus by next week is kind of optimistic. Apparently my WB5 repair status means I could be waiting for up to two business weeks for them to ship me a new one or send me mine fixed. Either the Texas repair facility is swamped, under staffed or slow is unknown to be. Their turn around time is longer than it should be though.

Does Ice Cream Sandwich make significant upgrades to the browser compared to 3.1 on a Galaxy Tab 10.1? Maybe people who have tried a custom ROM can say. I have to make a web app specifically for these devices, so I'm trying to decide whether to bust my rear end trying to work around some annoying issues, or if I can assume they'll go away when Samsung gets an update out. There's no way I'm installing a custom ROM on our customer's devices, of course. Specifically, the scrolling goes really jerky when I use certain CSS techniques like position:fixed or overflow:scroll. CSS transition/animation performance seems generally quite poor as well. There's also some weird bugs like :active pseudoclasses not working.

Post or send me a link with examples of what you're seeing and I can try them out in both the ICS browser and Chrome for you.

Actually, I want to say ICS completely retooled the browser - and brought in mandatory 2d acceleration, though I don't know if CM brought that in - so maybe not. You could also try forcing hardware acceleration - 'Force GPU Rendering' in the Development menu.

I just got a free transformer (the old 101 not the prime) and so far it's been pretty good. I've owned an iPod touch 3 since release and they are both pretty similar so it's easy to use. Is there anything I should get for it? I've heard you can get different app stores, are there any I should stay away from due to viruses or whatever? I noticed on my mums galaxy s2 that she has a task manager, is there any way to get something similar for my transformer?

There's no need to use a different app store. The Android Market is probably your best bet. You also don't need a task manager, just press the two window icon to the right of the home icon. It will bring up your last used apps, and you can press the X button if you want them to go away. There are a lot of good apps in the Market. I suggest getting the Awful app, it's great for browsing the forums. Also, I wouldn't worry about running any anti virus, I've never seen someone run into this problem on Android.

The reason I ask about the stores is because I wanted to update an app on my iPod a while ago and couldn't connect for some reason. I got a store that my friend recommended to me (Obviously I was jailbroken) that I later found out is the equivalent of piratebay for ios. I logged into the social thing that games used before apple made game center, and because I was dumb, I used the same password as my email. Next minute I'm getting spammed with ads for viagra and other drugs delivered to my home cheap from Mexico.
