Anyway, I did that, but then a second error pops up (this same error occurred before actually): C++ Runtime Error 6034. It appears that I'd need to debug the program. How would I go about that?

Does the builder run with out the cb loader? and does it spit out a log file when it gives the error message?

That is a new one on me, might have to uninstall and use the cleanup bat file and then re-install the builder and its files.

Nope, running the builder causes it to puke the same error out. How'd I go about doing the cleanup?

Just pointing out that the online builder updated yesterday and now contains Heroes of the Elemental Chaos. Also, Dragon 406 and Dungeon something-or-other. Oddly it still does not have War Wizard Expertise or White Lotus Dueling Expertise (or whatever the White Lotus expertise feat was called.)

Here we are at the sunset of fourth edition and they still can't decide if their dragon magazine created items are "good enough" for pushing content live. Crazy!

Hello all :)
So, just a shout out to whomever wrote up the "Infernal Prince" theme from dragon #406. For some reason it isn't adding the +2 power bonus to "bluff" & "Diplomacy" you're supposed to gain at 5th level from that theme. If someone could tell me how to fix this that would be awesome.

Those feats only recently got finalized, and WotC has been treating new book releases differently than it has Dragon. Worse, they're from an older Dragon issue, and might get overlooked in the next regular update.

It's still kind of sad that they can't get this kind of simple material out in a reasonable amount of time. Hell, they can just get the bloody thing from us and save themselves some trouble...

Alright, here's all 607 RulesElements from the lastest OCB with "Heroes of the Elemental Chaos" as their source (including the source element itself).

Like with the Feywild file I posted, these have NO rules sections, meaning they won't grant powers/bonuses/whatever, and some of the prereqs might not work right in the LCB, but it's a good starting point. Plus, you know, the powers should work without really any work.

Here's the Elementalist-build Sorcerer.

My apologies for the slight delay on posting this, but I was having some difficulty with the Elemental Specialist features; apparently the LCB doesn't like it when you give statadds level requirements, and was giving me the old "contact customer support" error every time I tried. As a work-around, I created hidden class features that kick in at levels 5 and 15 to grant the resistances and save bonuses.

I think I have it implemented right (otherwise I wouldn't be posting it), but as always I'd appreciate it if someone else gave it a once-over to check for stupid mistakes.

code:
<statadd name="resist:lightning" value="+10" type="resist" Level="5" />
or
code:
<statadd name="resist:lightning" value="+10" type="resist" requires="5 level" />
The code works just fine without the Level or requires properties (or with a requires for a class feature, which is how it's currently implemented), but every time I tried it WITH them, I got the "contact customer support" message. Took me a while to narrow down the problem to that specific code, too.

And the sad thing is, I've seen code CURRENTLY IN USE that same form without issue.

Also, turns out I had the damage bonus to arcane powers from Elemental Magic scaling wrong; I had it scaling at 11th and 21st levels (like other Spell Sources do), but it's supposed to scale at 5th, 15th, and 25th. Fixed it, and the link in my last post has the updated version.

I'm trying to add a custom item for one of my players and running into two errors:

A) Adding a power to the item (which is in its own .part file), even copying and pasting from a real .part, causes the builder to break on an alleged invalid 44th character in the line before it.

B) Without the power, the item works, but I still get "Inner Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when the .parts load.

I thought I recalled somebody else having problem B, but I couldn't find it easily.

Invalid characers are usually things like ampersands, "smart" quotation marks, and the like. What's the offending line?

CBLoader doesn't like special characters like that. Try replacing it with something like &# 2022; (without the space inbetween) and retry. I can't remember off-hand what the exact number is. Alternatively, replace that special character with *. That should make it work.

As to why it was in the original base items part file and copying it directly doesn't work, I think it has to do with the editor originally used. If you're using Notepad, copying from one file to another will cause this issue.

Nice, haven't had the chance to check everything but I've noticed two problems so far. The Elementalist's Elemental Power doesn't seem to scale past 5th level, where it becomes con+2. And the Primordial Adept theme doesn't seem to let me pick the starting feature. It sends me to the class page to pick a class feature, but no options show up under the Primordial Adept Starting Feature heading.

Yeah, I was looking at the code and noticed the problem before I noticed your post...

In 24-sorcerer.part, in the Elemental Magic class feature, lines 176 and 177 are:
code:
<statadd name="arcane:damage" value="+3" requires="15 Tier" />
<statadd name="arcane:damage" value="+3" requires="25 Tier" />
But they should be:
code:
<statadd name="arcane:damage" value="+3" requires="15 level" />
<statadd name="arcane:damage" value="+3" requires="25 level" />
Don't know how I made that dumbass mistake in the first place...

The issue is how the special characters are encoded.

This:
code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
Tells CBLoader to interrupt it as UTF-8, but by default, most text editors will encode the file as ANSI. So long as the file doesn't have special characters like that, trying to interrupt an ANSI file as UTF-8 won't cause problems, but the moment it DOES encounter one, it doesn't know what the character is supposed to be.

If you open the file in Notepad++, and select "Convert to UTF-8" from the "Encoding" menu and save the file, it should fix the problem.

A very minor issue with the elementalist from HotEC: when choosing the Earth Elementalist specialty, the added rider for Elemental Bolt lists an incorrect benefit. (The power inflicts the slowed condition on a hit rather than dealing extra damage.)

Awesome work with the themes. If you could be so kind as to follow the style of the Mercenary Theme (for consistencies sake), that would be great. For whatever reason, your style of theme puts the powers out of order, which makes things confusing. The merc style setup also includes the starting feature power with the text of the starting feature (if there are additional goodies, like earthforger), which makes it easier to parse.

The primal aspect (?) theme is supposed to allow you to choose between two powers as the starting feature. I see where there is a place in the Class tab to choose something for the theme, but there is nothing to select. There is also no power selection in the Powers tab, which is where I thought that selection would be made anyway.
