That works for him, but I really don't think that every single speedrunner is going to take that approach. When you have like six mods and hundreds of viewers, though, it's going to get out of hand.

I think Funkdoc has more mods than normal viewers, so at least he won't have that problem.

Yeah, I just noticed that. I guess something just stuck with me about ZFG's stream earlier, some guy was trying to link to one of those awful "terrible awful porn video invades your computer and possibly gives it a virus" sites and nothing was done about it. Plus there are spambots on TwitchTV that get instantly wiped out by average streams, so if that stuff could be taken care of, I think I could live with seeing "THIS IS THE RUN :weirdassfacethateveryoneuses:" a thousand times in a row.

Speaking of funkdoc, it will never not baffle me how well he keeps up with a chat of 250+ viewers in the middle of his runs.

He'll have the same viewers regardless of whether or not he has a lot of chat mods, so I don't see how that's entirely relevant.

Because the trolls that can't chat won't stick around to watch if they can't flood the chatbox. And I think Sig even said it himself he keeps the trolls around for the additional revenue.

Like it was said earlier, he got a lot of messages from people complaining about being banned, and he didn't feel like dealing with it, so he just got rid of the strict modding. He just wants to play his game and get paid without any of the nonsense, which is hard to argue with.

Also, this Farore's Wind wrong warp stuff has apparently chopped the Ocarina of Time any% time down to below 50 minutes. I think Cosmo hit 49:38 once, and ZFG supposedly hit 49:02.

You could argue "if he had strict moderation, more average people would watch instead of being turned off by trolls in the chat" with just as much validity and basis.

I imagine anyone that's "turned off" by the trolls just hides the chat.

The run is pretty much perfect in terms of mistakes -- I lost 30 seconds restarting Salvage Wharf and Kipling Plant and Corvine Bluff took me an early restart each, unless I forgot one the other 54 levels were platinum on my first try. Definitely worth watching :) the Crystal Rift 1-cycle starting at 53:30 is the highlight, imo.

Yeah, I used to be a mod in Siglemic's stream until he scaled it down. No problem with that, personally I'm a lot like him - hell, some of the biggest trolls are mods in my channel! Judging from fighting games, I highly doubt stream chat drives away that many people.

Also things are going well so I'll definitely stream later tonight. Need 80_music to come back!

BTW, Caracarn is easily on pace for sub-10:45 on FF10 single-segment. Around 2 hours left now, http://www.twitch.tv/caracarnvi if you're interested.

Goof Troop is always fun to watch, even if it's not being speedrun. I don't know if they've ever done it on TwitchTV, but cyghfer and Kryssstal (the best LTTP player in the world) did a run of Goof Troop once and all Kryssstal did was troll cyghfer the whole time. It was fantastic.

This is a lot more exciting than I would've assumed. Caracarn's knowledge of the game is pretty wild.

Yeah, it's been hard for me because I've been watching that but the FF8 speedrun also on SDA has made me have to put two windows open so I can watch them both (switching audio depending on which one is at a more interesting point - which is hard to decide!). I'm just glad to have a massive monitor res.

How? Can it be used to warp places other than the end credits faster than existing techniques?

Or is it just a matter of finishing all of the trials and then using the warp to skip the central tower/Ganon fights/escape sequence?

You can't warp to the end credits because you need to warp using Faeroe's Wind on B, and that requires RBA, which is banned in MST. You can still use it to warp from Fire Temple to Forest Temple among other warps, and skip nearly every end of dungeon cutscene.

I think he needs a little bit of a break from CV3. I mean, I understand how he wants the record, and how he's really close, but sometimes, putting in more time just burns you out. I know that when I practice stuff a lot, after a while, I just end up going through the motions and make dumb mistakes that I wasn't making before. A little bit of a break can refocus you sometimes.
