How do translations usually work. Does someone first go through and make a "literal" translation, as in, this is what is said, and then someone else goes through and makes sure that it can be understood by Americans, or is it just a process that happens as you start pounding these things out.

Thank you for putting in all that effort in translating the Go By Train episode. That must of been a pain in the rear end with all the on-screen text. It's much appreciated and the episode was really good. Funny that it was an hour of "Make the train stop correctly" repeatedly and it didn't get old.

The best part is he STILL made a big profit off those. He got Steel Batallion for like 50 bucks (it still had the price tag right on it) and he was collecting Saturn games since the begining, managing to get all these currently crazy expensive games for cheap. He sold me his EXTRA Panzer Dragoon.

It's a shame Nightshade never got a Japanese release (as far as I know). It's the perfect mix of dickish puzzles and bad jokes for this show. And thanks to this thread for reminding me of Ghost Trick. I've never played it and discovered it was recently ported to the iPad. Fun game so far!

Maybe not but the gimmicky start up was one of the best things about it. I used to work in a museum exhibition that had Steel Battalion on display and it was always fun to see the reactions of the visitors, especially the kids, whenever I took them through the full sequence. It's just a bit of a shame that it was such a 'simulation' because it would be awesome to play something fast-paced with that controller.

PAX East 2010 had a 5v5 Steel Battalion tournament set-up and I never got around to seeing it. So many regrets about that game since I also saw it brand new at a Gamestop around 6 years ago but didn't buy it because I didn't own an Xbox.

Speaking of games with weird peripheral gimmicks, I bought Odama for the Gamecube and I think it would be a perfect GCCX challenge. Short but challenging, and it's oh so Japanese. You basically shout into the microphone to issue commands to your army in a cross between RTS and pinball. I can already imagine the scene of General Arino rallying his troops only to accidentally pulverize them with the Odama.

The only issue I can think of is that the game itself might swap around the X and O / A and B / Whatever they're called buttons on the english release, which made some European music games a little confusing on Japanese controllers. It shouldn't be a problem as long as those buttons are next to each other on the controller, but if one is at the front panel and one is ontop of a stick of something, that might get weird.

I've been getting caught up on episodes I missed/skipped, and just finished Umihara Kawase. Great episode. Interesting and difficult game, and I finally got to see Inoue's debut and the famous old lady in the tamage segment! Episodes like this are what GCCX is about for me. Since Random Stranger just reposted the USA trip, was anyone else really disappointed that the Doom cartridge in the game shop didn't work? I'd have liked to see Arino's reaction to that.

Obviously, the game's violence borders on the pornographic and isn't fit for a show like GCCX, but along those lines (of games they'd never play, but I'd like to see Arino play) it got me thinking... could Grand Theft Auto: Vice City be completed in one sitting? I don't think it could, but considering Arino's age, maybe he'd get a kick out of the soundtrack and the mid-80's setting. And the hookers.

There is one connection (though slight) between GTA and Gamecenter CX. The creator of the Grand Theft Auto franchise was also the creator of Lemmings. A neat little bit of trivia. Speaking of violent games that could work well with GCCX, I think Arino would do ok with the SuFami version of Mortal Kombat II. It is somewhat censored (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mysUcyxPY1s), and without any rolling motions he might just be ok at it. It'd be an interesting episode anyway.
