I got mine after I got control of myself in the Normandy.

Just beat it....think I spent somewhere around 10 hours playing it (that's with doing very few missions other than the critical path) I'd say it's an 8/10 - not perfect, but still pretty drat good. I have two more characters that I need to run through it with, so I think overall it's gonna end up with a good gametime/$ ratio.

They really went out of their way to bring back characters from earlier games that you wouldn't expect offhand. I've already met Dr. Michel in the Citadel Hospital and General Septimus, who has sobered up and is giving the Blue Suns problems. Oh, and I'm regretting not shooting Rana Thanoptis since she apparently got all indoctrinated and killed a bunch of Asari officials on Thessia.

Man, was there some campaign organized somewhere to spread massive hate of this game? SA is cool as usual about it but on just about every more public forum and rating system, the game has gotten thousands of 0/10 reviews by users in the last four hours. The two most common threads I see in reviews that don't directly pertain to the gameplay are "Jennifer Hepler" and "gay and transgender sex." Looking forward to the game but this seems to be the next in a series of events that has me unimpressed with gamers after the last couple months of breath-taking immaturity.

For everyone concerned about xp and being over-leveled with a continued save: it takes an extremely small amount of xp to level, especially at lower levels. Even if you start at one, you'll be in the teens or twenties after a few missions. Even in the 30s, you earn 2 or so levels a mission. You'll still max your main abilities fairly quickly without an import so there isnt that big of a power difference early on. Saltpowered fucked around with this message at 10:36 on Mar 6, 2012 |

So I just had a major bug where going to load after critical failure, then exiting to the main menu, then reloading the auto save lead to me having all of my credits/fuel/medigel wiped. Yikes. Had to load an older save to get my stuff back.

I don't know if this has been posted, but the BSN user who posted the original thread where he asked the developer about the endings has posted some PM's that further flesh out the situation: http://i.imgur.com/Wsj1o.jpg according to this, there is still a chance of there being a "super happy" ending that may tie in to NG+. I guess we'll all know for sure soon, though.

Neat, I had a handful of ME1>ME2 saves and was able to import them in the demo (I think, anyhow, I didn't mess with the SP part of it much) and now I have 0 options to import anything and looking through my ME2 Files on the 360 the only save that shows up is one from some random profile I don't use, ugh. I guess it's time to just play through it with a new shepard and then play a full trilogy playthrough somewhere down the line.

Just like with how reviewers are paid off to give 9/10s and 5/5s to EA/Bioware games, the fans are searching for e-cred by giving those same games lower/exaggerated bad reviews. Also day 1 dlc is another reason people are going to look for any flaw (there will be plenty I'm sure) and tear it apart. If you can't trust professional reviewers than you surely can't trust 90% of user reviews for the opposite reasons. What happened to the Mass Effect general topic? Or has it all been condensed? I'm about to do insanity Horizon and absolutely dreading it. It seems every mission I've done feels alright once you get use to dying so easily but there will always be one key choke point/awful moment where you die a lot until you do everything right or just keep your teammates in a corner the whole time so you can abuse their powers 24/7. The area up to Okeer's chamber on Grunt's recruit mission was horrible because Kasumi and Miranda kept rushing out of cover even when I set them to stay in a small, safe area. Heavy weapons carriers are the worst but the boss fight was surprisingly easy for me. Dolphin Fetus fucked around with this message at 11:17 on Mar 6, 2012 |

Ok pretty impressed by this game so far at about 2 hours in. It's the little features that I'm enjoying the most. Like when I passed by a Volus at the citadel, I listened to his conversation with a turian and got a quest to help him, no dialogue initiated, nice touch!

I just did Horizon insanity yesterday - and then decided I had to restart because I wasn't happy with how many paragon choices I had made. Anyway horizon was much easier than those blue suns heavy weapon fuckers. The hardest part of horizon were the two scions backed up by husks, and I only failed twice on them because of their lovely shockwave that will hit you even if you've moved 5 meters out of their path. Just keep doing hit and runs on them. The boss is easy but I imagine it will be a long boring fight if you don't have all your heavy weapon ammo left.

I'm sitting at this crash site beacon, very clearly not being rescued. I have no ammo. When I leave the area it tells me to go back to the beacon. Anyone know how to trigger this? I've been here almost 15 minutes, I don't remember it taking this long in the demo. Edit: Apparently you have to let the enemies get close when you run out of ammo. I'm too pro for this. Joker's reaction to her is the super creepy part. He's about to piss himself with excitement when she first gets into the body. After that he has so many loving creepy comments and long uncomfortable stares. By herself EDI wouldn't have been that strange. She has some interesting character development and reminds me of a more human Legion. Joked just takes the whole situation to awful places. Also, the 360 DLC got fixed and should work for everyone now.

I feel like insanity would be a good deal easier if your party AI wasn't so god awful. On lower difficulties its never really an issue since stuff dies so fast but on insanity where each fire fight is a long drawn out affair you REALLY need your shield strippers and crowd control that doesn't share your own cooldowns.

TheSpiritFox posted:PC only too If that's true, I'm probably the only dude playing Engineer in the entire world right now. I'm even thinking about switching off, too - Engineers are really, really damned good once you've invested into Combat Drone, Sentry Turret, and Chain Overload with Neural Shock. Combine that with a Sniper Rifle and everything that isn't distracted or flat on its rear end just dies. Also, to those PC-users who want to import ME2 save data without actually having to buy/install/re-install ME2: In your Bioware folder, simply make a new folder named Mass Effect 2, in that folder create a new folder named Save, and in there place the folder with the saves you download from the save sites. In the end, it should look something like this: Documents > Bioware > Mass Effect 2 > Save > [Name]_12_[Class]_[######] (Replace the brackets and text in them with a name, class, and six random numbers respectively) Mass Effect 3 only looks for a Career file under the Save folder in the Mass Effect 2 folder. It doesn't really check for authenticity - any folders named 'Mass Effect 2' and 'Save' will do, as long as you have your game saves in a 'proper' career folder. Hopefully this will save a few other people some hassle.

Just got back from a release party that ended up at an IHOP in Folsom, California. I am SO loving HAPPY THE GAME IS FINALLY OUT. My own part in the whole affair is officially over, and I can now talk more freely about it. For what it's worth, I apologize for my own contribution to overall snark and general unpleasantness regarding ME3. Having worked on the official strategy guide since December has been pure stress, for one. For another, I actually DO like the game, and even if I'd never been picked to help write for the guide, my opinion regarding it would not change. I was never paid to like it or defend it. Just another fanboy here. I am really convinced that much of the game works a lot better given context with actual gameplay. In a lot of ways, I envy people who went in blind, there's a number of callbacks that will mean more to people if they're surprised by them, in my estimation.
