Personally, I'm thinkin' the latter. This is the greatest Internet outsider artwork since Sonichu, and unlike Sonichu, the creator has a modicum of talent and a sense of humor about his own work. (And a plot that hangs together a little bit, and no blatant self insertion, and on, and on...)

I really like Demon Planet and Monster Killers by J Chastain. It can be confusing coming into it, since he tends to jump around arcs and return to older arcs without warning. There's also quite a few standalone strips.

Here's an archive with links to various arcs from both comics, as there's some crossover and now they're all hosted on monsterkillers.com. Unfortunately it doesn't include anything after 2010. http://monsterkillers.com/archive.html

There are a few places you could start:

from the very beginning with "LION MAN"

Or later, there's an arc starring Poppy, who briefly appeared in Lion Man's arc but didn't do much. It sort of starts out as a series of one-offs where he dies in each one. This is where I started. After a few (non-canon?) deaths he comes back for a longer arc titled "NIGHT TIME MEDICAL COLLEGE," which is my personal favorite.

It ends abruptly and the author moves his comic to monsterkillers.com, where he picks up a different arc about the Monster Killers introduced during Demon Planet's run. Here he returns to black and white drawings on graph paper, where before he experimented (quite successfully) with color. He returns to color with the Saw parody "Trapz" which quickly segues into "Mystery Bears," which then segues into the return of Lion Man. There's a bunch of stuff that happens after that but it'd take a lot to explain.

Anyway, here's one of my favorites.

This is really awesome. Reminds me of thecatamite's games, especially Space Funeral.

There is truly something beautiful about Pac-Man's grim realization that the Dragon Balls aren't real, so he needs to take real action to avenge his dead family and kill the trolls, like create a secret organization with Frogger and "Cheeto Man." Just beautiful.

My favourite part is how he tells this epic of adventure and mystery. Then he goes "but they were a myth". Final panel is just him standing there looking sad.

After loving years, he is not in an incontrolable rage or crying his heart out, he's just standing there looking sad.
To me that's the funniest thing.

EDIT: hell he doesn't even look sad, just sort of bummed.

It's effective on so many levels. Not only does this show perseverance and maturity in Pac-man's character, but it's also sets TGT apart from nearly all other super-inclusive fanwork. This most definitely isn't Christian Humber where everything always works out in the hero's favor.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I really love how the trolls are actual characters. I was quite taken aback by how this story unfolded, as it initially felt as if the comic was more or less a setup for Lazerbot's favorite fictional characters to murder faceless strawmen to relieve some LoL-induced stress. But instead they have an actual backstory, and there is an actual reason for why the trolls exist and why they are trolling.

I think Lazerbot has a real skill in storytelling. For example, I like how he handled Pac-Man's backstory here. It would be typical of Christian Humber to have set it up where no one would have believed Pac-Man's vision was true, in order to glorify him when it became a reality. Instead, Pac-Man's master listens to his vision and accepts it, but gives a decent reason for why he must attack the trolls in spite of this warning. Lazerbot also uses this conversation to expand upon the story between the trolls and humans by showing that they've learned from their mistakes in bullying strange creatures. In spite of the strange circumstances of the story, it's told very well.

What's truly strange about this comic is just that there are some things that are absolutely hilarious by no intention of the author (the story between Bugs and Daffy is still by far the high point of the comic to me) but there are a lot of actual jokes that are completely intentional and still very funny ("I DON'T HAVE loving EARS") and it leaves me with this odd feeling where I like the comic both ironically and genuinely at the same time. I don't know if it's a fluke or what, but either way the comic is fascinating on so many levels to me; in spite of its bizarre plot it's set up very well on the whole.

...I guess that was probably more words than most would consider worth speaking about a comic titled "TAILS GETS TROLLED", but... :goonsay:

No, nerdbot, your words were beautiful.

I generally like what is abstract without the intent of being so. For example I love the poo poo out of things like Troll 2. This comic has the same quality which is what made me stick around this thread. However it also, against my preliminary beliefs has talent. Something I began to notice when Lazerbot was drawing certain angles of perspective. There is an intellect behind this story. If it is distorting itself on purpose or just limits itself to a base level, not elevated by proper grammar and vocabulary. The evidence remains. Lazerbot knows how to tell a story and he tells it with wit. And wit is associated with intelligence.

I wont be the first to say it, but I think that Lazerbot could be a genius.

However as I already have pointed out, Lazerbot is a somewhat ilitterate George R.R. Martin.
