One of the Youtube channels I subscribe to posted some pretty nice vids of Jungle Rot's show the other night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M0EqJQ1I9A I hadn't heard Jungle Rot before and after looking into Kill On Command, I guess they're "old school" death metal? What are some other bands that have that groove / hardcore sound to them?

I'm a big fan of his drumming, but I think he needs to take himself a little less seriously.

God dammit. The past couple days I've been listening to a good amount of Woods 5 on youtube, and it just struck me that this is the first stuff I've heard from him that is more than mediocre, and is in fact really drat good. And he's dead.

As far as the traditional "old school" death metal groove goes, the new Asphyx album Deathhammer fits that mold pretty well and is really great. Something a little less know is the new Fungus Inc. album,Gettin Drunk and Spreadin Spunk, if you can get past all the silly lyrics. I'm still enjoying a recent new demo from a US band Vastum called, Carnal Law. It's a great tribute to classic death metal. Then there is still yet, ...Bolt Thrower!

Gojira will be playing at this summers Metaltown in Gothenburg and I just bought the hell out of a ticket. Sure, Lamb of God, Sabaton and a bunch of other fun bands will be there was well but even if Gojira was the only band playing the whole weekend I'd still pay full price. Extremely psyched!

Maybe I'm weird as hell, but I can't get into anything Meshuggah released pre-Nothing, and Catch 33 is one of my favorite metal albums. I even ran out and bought I the minute one of my friends played the MP3 for me. There's just something about the robotic, rhythmic metal that they play that really does it for me.

The only CD I enjoyed pre-Nothing was Chaosphere. There are so many catchy songs on that album. Other than that, I think all of their albums are just a calm, rhythmic, beat that I can "mellow" headbang to pretty much from start to stop.
