I thought it was a stand at first too but no, those are the crazily thick wires the Nintendo 3DS capture unit uses, and they're being run through a hole in the table. If you google it you can find pics of the capture unit and the big box all the wires feed to.

Sorry for he double post but this is important. Apparently there's another group of people out there who have decided to subtitle Game Center CX. Now this would be big enough news on its own since it would mean more episodes getting subtitled faster but they decided to take on the big dogs. They've subtitled the first hour of the Quest of Ki Live Challenge and their plan is to continue on through all of the live challenges. Yes, they actually want to do nine hours of this:  I haven't watched it yet, it's still downloading for me. I'm interested in seeing how they do with it. Maybe once they've finished Ki they'll want to take a break with something more straightforward. Anyway, their download link is http://www.wupload.com/file/2681852392/[

 The Sugoi Squad subtitle the music lyrics in the background, spelling out the Japanese in English letters. Why would they take on that extra work for nothing? And now we've got text on the screen for Abe talking (not pictured above), the background music lyrics, the subtitling credits, and the song title all on the screen at once. That being said, more power to them for actually doing this, especially if they keep it going. another great translating moment: "Supelunka! [Translator note: Japanese name for Spelunker]" edit for screencap proof (Sugoi Squad did it like this to illustrate an already obvious pronunciation-related joke):

Somebody needs to tell them to check their bad anime fansubbing habits at the door. Next we'll get bouncing neon colored sing-a-long lyrics for songs and translators notes in every sentence. If they won't, somebody can reverse engineer their efforts. On the one hand, it's great they want to sub something that isn't moe-blob bullshit. On the other hand, they probably shouldn't sub something that isn't moe-blob bullshit as if it were moe-blob bullshit.

I watched the first minute of that Quest of Ki sub and found several glaring errors even in the opening narration, with entire sentences just made up out of nowhere with nothing to do with what's being said on screen. This is a terrible quality sub only made worse by the constant "watermark" in the upper left.

It's obviously a joke. First off, there's nothing online about this group at all. I just spent a few minutes doing a Google search, and this is the only thing this group has done. Secondly, the errors that they made seem like a parody of bad errors. For instance, there's one point where there's a line of dialog that's too long to appear in one subtitle, so the conclusion appears above the original subtitle. Then there's an incredibly long translator note during Abe's cooking segment. And then translating the song lyrics while getting all the rest wrong? Bravo good people. Bravo.
