I have almost 300 records and I did it in one afternoon while I was home from work sick. I took them out in stacks. To my left on the couch was uncatalogued, right in front of me was my laptop, and to my right I'd stack the ones I'd cataloged. I think it took me about 3 and a half hours.

I just add poo poo when I get it. I sold most of my records a few years ago, so I started from scratch around the time I got a discogs account.

Quick notice for anyone who's into folk-punk bullshit: The kickstarter for Live the Dream by Ramshackle Glory only has a day left on it and it's about 60 away from the goal. 12 bucks gets you the record shipped to the US (20 for overseas), and if you're weird, 5 dollars gets you the tape. Link is here.

Yeah geez. And then you have to figure out if you have the canadian version or some poo poo like that and oh no you got it wrong it was actually the reissue seven months later or whatever. But I only have like 50 88 records so I dunno why I'm saying this

I keep meaning to finish it...I have so many more to add. Problem is is that a lot of stuff I got from my dad is Jazz and Big Band records that aren't on Discogs and I really don't want to add them...

I guess I might just leave them out...but then I'll feel bad.

Not even going to lie I've kind of been saving this project for when I have some down time where I want to do something fun. That's right...this kind of stuff is fun for me...

Yeah I have something in the neighborhood of 400-500, so it'd be a lot more time consuming for me. And I know that's considered a modest collection, so I can't imagine how dedicated people who have 2000 records must be to list all that.

My main trouble is when I want to add that used Beatles record I picked up, and I have to figure out which of the 40-odd pressings it is. I'm sure my Beatles collection isn't correct :(

I picked up this EP today based purely on the ridiculousness of the cover:

It sounds exactly how it looks. I'd never heard of this band before and I don't typically take an interest in metal. But the camp factor of this cover was just through the roof so I had to have it. I actually kind of like it. And upon googling it, it turns out it has a fairly interesting history(moral panic! Tipper Gore!) and often sells for decent prices(I paid five bucks). I'm glad I picked it up. I love making discoveries like this. The music is very much in the category of "I'm not even sure if they were serious".

Speaking of ridiculous album covers, I'm lucky enough to be friends with a guy who works at a record store, and I came across this when I was flipping through their bins one day.

After we had stopped laughing at how bad it looked, he let me keep it for free. It sounds about as bad as you could imagine.

"Destination Lonely" (both on CD and LP) is still avaiable from Nick Phillips

shipping from Australia is a bitch, but seeing you're a Slicks fan that wouldn't be a problem.

Royal Headache is getting a stateside repress on What's Your Rupture:
http://whatsyourrupture.bigcartel.com/product/royal-headache-s-t-lp-cd-preorder

You probably know that "Marines" 7'' is now priced around 50 bucks (or more). It's not going to drop anywhere soon since Chris Woodhouse will not repress any of the Mayyors releases. Got lucky getting the second press of "Deads" back in the day.

No problem. By the way, "On Your Knees" is getting a reissue on Almost Ready Records in about a month or so. And there's a new Slicks LP on the way this year, on Columbus Discount.

Yeah, I've never really made an effort because there's just to much stuff missing from Discogs. The bar to make a useful/acceptable DB entry is too high for me to really bother (tracklisting, photos, etc). RYM has a more oddball/private/obscure driven community so there's a lot of stuff there that's not in Discogs.

I always thought it was weird there's a bunch of entries for comps but not the original sources...

You can check it out here, but it's all stuff from Goodwill and thrift store dollar bins so there's a lot of crap:

I just went through my entire collection to put on Discogs (because I've been wanting to do it for a while anyways, this just provided a nice impetus to do so). I'm almost at 100, which is impressive/frightening because I've been collecting for a little over 6 months, but most are giveaways/cheap albums from thrift stores, so I'm not too scared.

That said, I didn't know Discogs was a place to buy things, and holy poo poo are some things on there hella tempting.

Yeah I wish Discogs were as complete as RYM since there are phone apps and programs that search through it but it's not worth the effort of uploading a ton of 45s

True, and I've updated a few things. I think I would if I knew that there was a larger effort to add 45s and that I wouldn't just be adding every other thing I get
