He makes They Live just as much as the movie's themes do.

Liz said that Goldburg was stalking her, but once the police started putting the screws to her all of the anecdotes of Liz being stalked by Goldburg were situations where Goldburg had a legitimate reason for being in those places, like Nitro and I think Liz said he stalked her at the gym but it was Goldburg's gym that he owned she was referring to.

That's some straight-to-bargain-bin goodness. The Longest Yard remake was fairly terrible, but Khali kicking Bob Sapp in the face wasn't the worst thing I've seen on film.

And it still has the whole "Women, they lie about it to gently caress over men, amirite reddit?" vibe to it. It's misogynistic as all gently caress and enough to drat most writers out of whatever circle they're in.

No it was a wrestling angle where a heel did something dastardly to help themselves/hurt the babyface.

It's just that it really wasn't misogynistic and you're just looking for something that isn't there. I'm sure there have been angles in the past where a male wrestler lied to the cops to get his opponent in trouble. Maybe they should've just had Liz beat Goldberg up and toss him in a dumpster. Believe me I'm not normally one to defend WCW, but the Liz storyline that night was not the big problem with that angle.

Heels are allowed to do bad things to get heat as long as their actions are presented as A Bad Thing and they eventually get comeuppance. It's when faces do terrible things and we are supposed to cheer them for it you run into problems. That storyline was probably misogynist but that was the point. It was also bad.

Well that just kicked my defense of popular opinion in the nuts didn't it? I guess I agree to an extent with Hiram's Bitch then. While a terrible angle, and an angle that objectified Elizabeth specifically, it wasn't especially mysoginistic, and in the confines of wrestling, was standard heel fare. The execution on the other hands was less than stellar, and far from standard, for that matter.

If they had cut back to Tony Schiavone and had him be like "Bitches always be doin' that poo poo. Fuckin' whores, amirite?" (or something like that, Tony was way more street than I am) then yeah the angle would be slightly misogynistic.

It says something for how tragic someone's life is when the most positive experience someone had with a male wrestler was Hulk Hogan allowing her to stay at the Hogan house to escape from Macho's abuse. It is really sad

Sid, Nash and the other guy spend the whole movie doing nothing but appearing out of smoke machine fog, standing around as if to say "Look how big we are". So not that dissimilar to their wrestling careers really... Just avoid it, it makes no sense and makes "See No Evil" look like the original Halloween in comparison.

I absolutely lost it when Russo defended booking to swerve internet smarks by saying that the 12 year old kid who goes to a dirtsheet and smartens up about the business isn't just one kid. That kid told all his friends on the playground about The Biz and now they're all smarks too!

I had a friend who was totally that kid... he would be a dick and read Raw spoilers from the tapings, and then pretend like he could predict what would happen on Raw when he watched it as it aired. I also remember him telling us that Sid was going to return at No Way Out 1998 to replace HBK in the 8 Man Tag. Instead it was Savio Vega. Biggest let down ever

All Russo's shoots kind of blur into one for me, but I seem to recall on this one he comes out with the "I can't write something I know to be untrue. I know wrestling is fake so how can I pretend its not." Russo doesn't understand fiction.
