If this is the thread for ORC, my PSNID is bensID if anyone wants to get into a game. I pretty much just got the game, but trying to play with the computer team is like trying to play with a bunch of mentally handicapped cats. I might be on later today!

I don't know what it is about playing SOCOM in RE2/3 Raccoon City, but it's just great. Sure there's basically no plot, but that's not why we all play RE, right?

I was really enjoying Revelations up until Episode 5 with the loving bilge. This is everything I hate about modern game design with enemies spawning OUT OF THIN AIR and monsters popping up behind you with no audio cue until they're already there. Resident Evil has always been a series where enemies populate a room and the designers use audio cues so you approach with caution. It got worse across RE4 and RE5 but even those games used few "gotcha" moments or gave you a heads up when a group of enemies spawned. Revelations has moments where you exit a door and one of those exploding sacks will be standing right next to it!

You can see the enemies in the water with the scanner but they don't exist until the game decides to spawn them which always happens when you're two feet away. I wish I could just run straight through the areas but OOPS another fish monster leaps out directly in front of me and there's no way to dodge them unless you get lucky and they attack at an angle. It's basically a coin toss when it happens as if they had a quota of how many hits you should take in any given area. I wish they were like the smaller fish where you can see their fins but these guys are invisible and invincible until they pop out at which point it's too late, you get hit. Even the shock grenade doesn't seem to do anything nor does the area of effect grow larger when you throw it in the water! Now the big guys are appearing as well and they get in a free hit the moment they appear even when I hit them point blank with a shotgun blast to the face.

Sorry about the rant but I'm really frustrated and have to wonder what goes through the minds of the designers when they create these things. It's artificial difficulty at its finest. The rest of the game is enjoyable so I guess I'll be playing Raid mode for a while before tackling the campaign again.

Just chiming in for a solution to that double Tyrant battle. There's a Flamethrower in a case in the street in front of City Hall. GRAB IT! So if you're going for a better mission time bonus, this will help considerably.

Or use four eyes and make the tyrants attack each other all day long.

Your game may be glitching if this happens because that is demonstrably untrue. Blige missions in Raid mode are basically "spam the shock grenade as often as possible for instant kills."

I toss a shock grenade into the water and the area of effect is the same as if it landed on the ground. The under-water fish monsters don't die so either I'm missing by a very wide margin or the fish monsters are invincible underwater.

Then yes, something is wrong with your game. A shock grenade in the water does massive damage to underwater enemies, I'm fairly sure it's an instant-kill to anything fish-like. I just tested this myself to make sure I wasn't crazy.

I'm testing it myself to double check. When they poke their head out of the water I can hit them with a shock grenade. More often than not they spawn within grabbing distance or never poke their heads out after I hear their chittering so I just stand there with a shotgun and wait until they pop out. I'm probably just flat out missing but it's impossible to track these assholes underwater.

Let me play guess-the-Capcom-plot: the "Family" is the Global Pharmaceutical Consortium that founded the BSSA and it will be revealed that some part of Umbrella was never working alone but with this giant worldwide business conspiracy all along. (Maybe Racoon City was some sort of test operation instead of an accident; in any case, the chance of a huge retcon is 90%.) The mechanical tyrant that's chasing Alex/Not-Ashley is probably sent by them to retrieve Alex's blood sample. The whole thing will be part of some craaaazy dominate the world plot.

I'd rather they make a new horror franchise that doesn't have to bear the expectation of being a multi-million seller. And keep making new RE games because they're fun, too.

I want the RE plot to keep going because I enjoy seeing the crazy ways they retcon or try to fit things together or whatnot.

If they rebooted it, you would get the story of some dudes fighting zombies in the woods, possibly trying to be grim and serious instead of hilariously ridiculous. I'd rather have hilariously ridiculous.

Wii version also looks better due to the fact the assets not showing their age as much as they on the HD versions.

The PC version looks much better than the PS2 now, but its still using the same geometry.

I hear ya. Aside from the rare game breaking glitch that causes everyone to leave, balancing issues like Super Soldier need to get looked at. Biohazard needs to gimp the carrier more or something, because it seems like once you pick up the G Virus, you have a free pass unless the entire enemy team was organized against you.

I love the Survivor game mode though. I wanna see it again in some other games or whatever. Mainly I just like how no one thinks to shoot people trying to board the helicopter and just patiently wait in line for the fifth seat. I finally got my 4 player Survivor trophy just guarding the helicopter for as long as I could before boarding.

You'll most likely reach pockets of frustration. Missions 1-4 were relatively piece of cake. 5 was pretty annoying, 6 was almost really annoying but I found it to be okay, and 7 was annoying but doable. It's one of those things where you're pissed while you do it, but once you've got the 7 S+ ranks, you look back and say "hey that actually wasn't too bad in the grand scheme of things".

I used Spectre for 1-4, Four Eyes(Program Infected to pacify your enemies) for 5, Lupo(Super Soldier for the 'spy' and the boss) for 6, and Vector (because gently caress sniper rifles) for 7. Play on Professional, your rank grading is much more lenient than on Veteran. Cameras don't play a part in the ranking, but intel pieces do (That's where Spectre comes in, he detects them and other items on the minimap)

You do NOT need to S rank every category to get an overall S+. For example I had 3/2 deaths on mission 7, giving me an A in that category, but ended up farming 232/150 kills, which compensated for my extra greedy deaths. I also finished the stage at around 21:30/30:00 and got all the intel. (S/A/S/S) and it gave me S+. You might even get away with a B, but not likely.

So basically, it's not as bad as it sounds. The bullet sponge spec ops/hunters/crimson heads and awful AI buddies might give you a hard time, but you learn to work around it.

Also, your repeated attempts at campaign mode will net you a pretty penny in terms of experience, so buying all the abilities and weapons is a piece of cake. (I am level 74 and unlocked all abilities and weapons I think)

I think the problem is that Microsoft charges developers to put patches out on Xbox LIVE, and that sort of screws things up for all 3 platforms. Capcom's probably sitting around asking themselves if the money they could make off the game would merit patching it or something.

So the good news:
we got a new trailer for the Spec Ops Echo Six DLC for Operation Raccoon City!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xfmrCzRjeQ
At some point Echo Six will intervene between Jill and Nemesis! The first mission is free! It involves Sherry Birkin (oh god is this escort bullshit) April 10th! Carlos might make an appearance?

The bad news: Only the first mission is free. Apparently in a 7 mission long campaign, the rest is paid DLC in the "coming weeks". Also a versus map pack is in the works for paid DLC as well.
