Eventually, when I got an HTC Hero Android phone, I got them to get me on Everything Plus, but I still had to pay the $10 premium data charge. Are you saying that I shouldn't have to pay that $10 charge every month, and $60 +fees is what I could get?

DuckMan - starting this past Tuesday my tower has started acting like crap. Whenever I answer a call I can hear the other party fine but they often can't hear me even though I have 1-2 bars. Then I get a Call Failed. I assume this is because the tower can't hear my phone so it times out the connection. Is there any way to report this that doesn't involve wasting an hour talking to a regular CS rep and having them read to me from a script as if I were a 5 year old?

iluvpr0n posted:Wait, what? Here's my bill: Yeah, I am assuming you have a non smartphone or a really old one. It's very simple, if you get a smartphone, whether via upgrade or outright buy, you will start paying an extra $10 a month on the premise that a smartphone uses more data than a feature phone. No exceptions on smartphones anymore with EPRP and regular plans. What is considered a smartphone (the list still makes me laugh): iPhone, android phones, webos, windows phone 7, blackberry, windows mobile (6.5 and under), palm OS and the Samsung instinct series. So basically, no grandfathered phone loopholes. For better or worse.

OK, I guess I was reading it that "EPRP pays for the $10 fee" (ie, the plan itself covers it). Ahh well. To make this post theoretically more useful, I don't really have major complaints about 3G speeds in Boston/Cambridge like people everywhere else seem to. I've got an Evo 4G, but never really use 4G because it doesn't seem to hold a solid connection, so I use 3G. Yesterday I got .23Mbps download speed and today I got .19Mbps. I guess as long as I can stream music from Google Music/Amazon/Pandora/Raditaz, I'm happy enough. What speeds should we be getting over 3G? What are people on other carriers getting? (When I did test 4G speeds here last fall, I was getting anywhere from 1.12Mbps to 2.33Mbps.)

Sprint's EV-DO 3G service is capable of speeds around 1.5Mbps. But, a lot of areas are lacking the backhaul to provide it or are suffering from wireless tower congestion (too many phones on a tower, not enough radio frequency to server them all). This leads to a lot of people getting slower speeds. If Sprint is able to complete their Network Vision project, both of these problems should go away for a while.

Has anybody installed the new Optimus update? I've had terrible luck with anything based on OS 2.3, so I'm still rocking 2.2 and loving it (relatively). Supposedly it fixes everything, but I'm leery of installing any more updates

I don't know how the dev scene is for that phone anymore, but CM7 or a rooted/bloat removed stock ROM would probably work better than 100% stock.

Applying a discount now will renew your two year contract, but your eligibility date stays the same (so if you are eligible May 1t, it stays May 1st).

I know you can't go from regular to EPRP, this may not be the case going from EPRP to regular, but who knows. I know when I started working at my current employer and started a family plan the 19% was cheaper, but I switched back to single line and haven't even entertained the thought because if I recall I would need to port out my number and wait then port it back in for a difference that may ultimately be negligible. I can't mention my employer by name, I learned a while back it starts derails faster than talking about Palestine.

Another HTC TP2 user here, absolutely dying with this POS. I am eligible for upgrade in 49 days (oh god, it's so far away). I am still on the original SERO $30, so here's my question: Is there any way to get something that will last me through the next month and a half, with decent resell value? I'd like to hold out for the Galaxy Nexus, but I don't think I can make it until my upgrade waiver kicks in. What do I need to do to do this affordably? I know I'll probably need to bump my plan up to the $60 + data premium, which I'm ok with. I'm just fearful of paying Sprint full prices on a phone that I can't recover, and terrified to mess with my SERO. Please don't tell me I have to wait it out.

^^ AJzer, you can have her Optimus S if you want, $50 should cover it. Let me know. Its a decent Android phone. Duckman2008, question for you or anyone else familiar with Sprint's policies. My girlfriend has two lines, one regular ED450 and one SERO-P. She wants to cancel the ED450 line. Will we receive the rest of the month back in the form of a check, or will she have to ride out the current month?

If tat restarts my contract, would I have to repay the $100 deposit? Also the deposit I paid for the Nexus S 4G should be returned to me in June, would the renewal of my contract negate that? http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-targets-2014-use-800-mhz-lte/2012-04-12 This is the first confirmation I've seen that Sprint really intends to deploy LTE on their 800 MHz frequency. 4G indoors, imagine that! So, I want the GNex next week. -Does sprint still NOT charge the activation fee if you order the phone online as opposed to going in store? -For the new contract buy out thing, should I do that now? Or, should I wait until the day I buy the phone? I call the retentions # to do this, right? -Is it worth selling my E3D to Sprint?

I cant wait for the GNex. I'm in San Antonio so I'm kind of excited that I might actually get LTE indoors since I gave up on WiMax for my Evo after a few weeks and just jumped on board with MIUI.

I installed the 2.3.3 update on my Optimus and haven't noticed anything special aside from the sprint icons becoming more colorful(-ly obnoxious). I did find this: http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/76818. Here is a list of complaints (edited for readability, jesus christ stop using all caps when it's not warranted): quote:So dark you can't see the key pad I checked the dialer and it seems the same, and the stock keyboard and it does seem a little ugly but not unusable or anything. Also I'm pretty sure it looked like that in 2.2, but I use swype so who knows. Autocorrect works for me. I haven't called anyone recently so I can't comment on the headphone thing or it being too loud. Here is a list of supposed changes, but I don't see any added apps (thank god): http://phandroid.com/2011/09/14/lg-optimus-s-gets-android-2-3-update/
