So the gimmick here is Mario's star is the only item that can hurt Troll Naruto but Mario is about to get killed and the star will never be seen again. Okay good whatever.

Yoshi is one of the trolls: The TK's wave attack thingy is supposed to shut down all muscles, right? That's why Yoshi can't fly away. But immediately after that, he can use his tongue attack thingy. So the effect wears off a lot faster than it used to, or he is faking it, so TK can kill Mario. That he doesn't kill Yoshi and just gets him out of the way also confirms my theory. edit: Mario

Wait, how does Mario actually use the stars? Does he have to eat them or something? Because all we saw when he used it the first time was Mario pulling it out of the bag, and then it cut away. The second time, he pulls it out of the bag, and it's in his hand, and... he gets Word-of-Death'd. If all he has to do is make a conscious decision to use it while touching it, why'd he pull the star out of the bag at all? Why not just put his hand in and think?
