I know this might be a long shot, but I was curious if anyone knew the name of a documentary on Russian mail-order brides. I don't remember much, but one of the men thought it would help bridge the language barrier by speaking with a Russian accent to the girl.

I really liked how they handled talhotblond and the twist: I think the point they were trying to make was that Mary was at least partly responsible, and behaving as she did was dangerous. I don't think they made light of Tom's role in the act, even if his own words did. I'm glad the focus was on the overall implications of pretending to be someone online, and this applied to Tom and Mary. I'm really glad this was the case, because it meant Mary's actions were not simply masked by the horrific murder. Indeed, it was refreshing that the murder was the direct focus The dead kid narrating was stupid, though.

Pretty sad weird story, though. I must admit I made it through the Hollywood version a lot easier. I wanted to love that doc, but listening to people bicker isn't one of my favorite things. They fascinated me though, as does the house and the whole weird story.

Holy poo poo, I just finished watching the 2010 documentary "Catfish". That was so insane and completely amazing. Edit: I'm reading a lot of concerns about the authenticity of it all. Louis Theroux's new one on dementia. This Extreme Love series has been very solid but at the same time crushingly sad. I heard him on 5 live the other day and he was saying he's returning to some of he people he talked to from his Weird Weekends porno episode in an upcoming episode. Should be interesting!

The porn one was supposed to be broadcast on BBC this week I think, but it would have followed a cooking program enjoyed by the over 60s and they didn't think it was a good idea to ram porn down the throats of old people who didn't switch channels.

My fiance recently bought me a Beavis and Butthead DVD that had a bunch of episodes as well as the documentary "Taint of Greatness" on it. It was awesome to watch a documentary about the show and the reaction, just a fun watch. There's one part where one of the artists/writers ( I forget) is talking about hate mail the show got from kids in grade six, and the letters were like "take your show off the air or I will be angry. I have guns."  If you're not a fan of the show you still might enjoy it, Mike Judge is a really smart guy and it's cool to hear him talk about his work, you'd have to be pretty smart to pull off shows like Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill for sure.

A co worker showed me the trailer to a documentary and I could not, for the life of me remember the name of it. The trailer starts off with a skinhead holding a gun to the camera threatening to kill any cop that tries to come and get him. The trailer goes on to show that he was once a well mannered privileged kid who was a gifted surfer and mma fighter. But a brief stint in prison changed him into a hardened white supremacist. Any help finding this trailer or just the title alone would be appreciated.

If you haven't heard of Tommy Cooper you need to look him up on youtube now. His jokes are terrible, his magic tricks flirt between excellent and tragic and a lot of the time it looks like he has no idea what he's doing, but it all comes together so perfectly. Such an interesting character too. I'd be intrigued as to how non-English people find his humour.

Strangely enough, I just watched talhotblonde. It's a good documentary, but I agree there's a few parts of it that seem a bit "off": - The narration by the dead victim. It's fine, even effective, up to the point when he starts saying what his regrets are or what he wants to tell people. To me, that crosses the line between a narrative device to just making things up. - The doco does seem to be trying to stitch the mother up, while exercising strange restraint around marine sniper. Sure, she's unpleasant and disturbed , but the worst crimes she can be accused of are impersonation and knowledge of a possible crime. Perhaps it makes for a better story, but the demands for laws to "stop this sort of thing" are unexamined. What sort of law? To stop what?

I expected him to be more normal since he was living away from them, but I'm not so sure..maybe it was just the way he was played up, but he seemed just as nuts as the rest of them.

Deliver Us From Evil on Netflix. Totally hosed up and disturbing story of a pedophile priest. The justification of his abuse by the church and the shots of the priest near playgrounds with kids in them are beyond hosed up.

Tried to watch the Earthlings trailer. Got to the thing that got flayed alive. Jesus loving Christ. I will attempt to watch the whole thing, someday, but holy gently caress. I think it might be a badger. I heard that harvesting badger hair for shaving brushes is gruesome.
