Question: how do you heal your pawns with items? Selecting Use immediately uses them on yourself, and you can't select Use on an item in a pawn's inventory.

Step 1: Give pawn an item.
Step 2: Hope.
Step 3: Get annoyed pawn isn't healing itself.
Step 4: Use a bunch of items on yourself
Step 5: Watch the pawn learn to use items.
Step 6: Pawn uses item.

Give it to them, and they'll use it when they need to.

To be fair, most of the quests could've been taken straight out of an MMO. But the actual gameplay and combat is so drat fun that it's pretty much the opposite of an MMO.

I've played a large number of MMOs and this is really different. Not at all.

I decided to try and make an all mage party. That did not go well. I ended up just rolling with myself and Garfunkel my main pawn as mages. I recruited a series of strider/fighter pawn combos to round out the party.

Fire Boon has become my favorite low level spell. Though dropping a quick High Ingle into a goblin's face and watching him fly backwards is fun. It seemed having a Fire Boon on my staff and just mashing fast attack was much more effective. Garfunkel took over the Healing and Utility spells. She was fairly popular for that reason I think, and I've earned a bunch of rift points and some junk items from others.

Now that I've broken level 20 I switched things up and tried out Mystic Archer which is not great. Daggers feel more effective then the bow. That could just be the bow I am using; I don't know. Being a former mage, and charging in to fight ogres and cyclops' with daggers is not working out however. I'll try Mystic Knight next. I earned a sword with a sell value of 115k from completing some escort quest so that should be a good start.

Garfunkel became a sorcerer, and lost the healing spell while not gaining anything exciting really. She unfortunately doesn't wreck things like I had hoped yet. She, in fact, dies a fair amount. I think it is a combo of cast times, and not being smart enough to run away from the monsters. I'll look into that tomorrow.

Man, I love the clothing & armor system in this game. I've never seen a game in such dire need of a PC version, though. Underneath the muddy textures, pop-in and letterboxing there's a potentially glorious-looking game here if it just had some modern PC horsepower under it.

This is a highly, HIGHLY physics and action-based game. There's no way it could have been done online reliably, which is why I now understand why they went with the pawn system. Stuff like shield-bashing a goblin so hard that they fly back and hit a tree, killing them, is a common occurrence.

In fairness, the pawn system is really cool. I love how they learn from watching you fight or just incidentally trying random poo poo. Always a joy when a pawn I hired online runs up, scales a monster and hacks it apart like he's done it a million times before, prompting my own pawn to chime in with "I'VE LEARNED ABOUT BEASTS :downs:"

I switched to mystic knight when i maxed the fighter ranks, i was hoping i would get to mix some fighter skills because enchanting your magick shield and bashing it in someones face would be far more useful than trying to black an attack. At least now i know the only thing you can take are shared skills and keep your previous vocations augments.

Hey guys, want to feel better about your own skills at this game? DarksydePhil has started an LP. For those unfamiliar, he's a youtube LPer who bitches about his difficult job of being a youtube LPer, is insanely misogynistic, laughs like Skull from Power Rangers, loves his own jokes, and is 100% awful at every game he plays. He also uploads like 30+ videos a day or something crazy like that.

Dude's awful is what I'm getting at here. Get some alcohol and see how long you can watch his stuff before you want to punch him. Take a sip any time he blames his controller or lag, 1 sip any time he says something racist, sexist, or bigoted, and finish your glass if you actually make it all the way through the video. He's a comedy goldmine for all the wrong reasons. Guy's got almost 12,500 videos uploaded. And that's just on that channel. He basically plays and records himself playing every major release.

Seriously, if you can make it through the first minute of part 3 and not want to dropkick him, you're a better person than I.

I played a couple hours earlier when my copy arrived in the mail, and at that time the game really wasn't clicking with me. After awhile, I decided to give it another try, and now I'm enjoying it a lot more. A lot of this probably has to do with getting Ensnare for my Strider, as well as my main pawn now having super powerful fire and thunder magic. It's a funny combination. I just wish my current bow wasn't a piece of poo poo because I really wanna shoot stuff more.

Edit: My pawn's name is Sophia because I'm unoriginal, and my PSN is ShadowNinja64, in case anyone needs an offensive/support mage (she has Thunder and Holy Boon atm).

It's like Skyrim, if Skyrim was totally awesome.

Also, I just noticed that when you enhance your equipment it can pull items straight out of your storage, which is awesome. Also you can apparently upgrade straight to rank 3 even if you don't have the item for rank 2.

I got the reverse, my mage is apparently a combat boss, and knows a lot of poo poo, but isn't fashionable. I can't help that the best gear i can buy her isn't a frilly loving dress or something. STATS > FASHION

She looks "bad" in the way that the "ugly girl" in hollywood movies does, give her a new set of clothes and take off her nerd glasses, WHOOSH she is the prom queen.

Stupid rating system. bluh. anyway she's rolling all three basic elem spells maxed out, heal, remove status, maxed fire enchant. and augmented with the sorcerer magic resist, the mage magic resist, and boosted heal duration. I also just bought her that core skill that summons magic defense systems or some poo poo. I have yet to see it in combat before I uploaded her at the end of my play session.

Still wondering about double jump, if anybody knows anything about getting it I'd like to hear it.

This is basically what I did with my main pawn, it seems to get lots of crystals so far because of it. I imagine the mage in decent looking armor tends to attract people when they're pawn hunting. My average rating was 5 stars in all stats for a bit there, now it's down to 4. :(

Started my char with strider at first, which was fun, then onto magick archer. I found magick archer to be kind of underpowered though. It's range is insane and the ability to lock onto targets with most skills is nice, but you still feel like you're not dealing a whole lot of damage. Switched to fighter and suddenly the game is a blast again. My small sword and board girl knows how to bring the pain with all the stam I have from all the strider levels, lets me pretty much blink strike repeatedly for hillarious damage and range.

Question though. Does anyone know what exactly the 'fitness' augment applies to? Does it apply to actually grappling onto monsters too? I'm somewhat confused by it's description.

It applies to carrying/holding enemies, so when you press or hold the grab button and either pick an enemy up or hold him for your pawns to kill.

Guess that makes sense, and what I figured. Is the only augment that decreases stamina use while holding onto a monster the 'arm-strength' one from Strider then? I may have to switch back to it and get that one then. Gotta grab onto enemies 24/7 and stab them to death.

Minor, minor annoyance. It's never interfered with combat. The camera has though, getting stuck with trees and stuff between the camera and my character.

Are there an infinite number of enemies at night? I'm seriously thinking that. I must have killed 30 dire wolves and zombies before finally cutting and running. Also there should be an achievement for just surviving an entire night outdoors, I have come close but not done it yet.

Beyond the Rift. Jump into pit near Fountain Square of Gran Soren. Fall to center. Repeat as necessary to land in various areas along the sides of the shaft. Gather 20 wakestones is your quest. Only do when ready for New Game+, can't turn back once you unlock the deeper secrets of this area. After completing Fathom Deep (The 20 wakestones quest) you will get Final Judgment quest if you jump in the well again. Then you fight big bad boss and then... Get an awesome item. Use the option it has and you start the New Game +.

Is there a way to search by knowledge when looking for pawns?

For the life of me, I can't seem to find the way to the south west stone (or whatever the quest calls it). My pawn suggested we go hire a pawn who knew the path.
But when I go looking through pawns at a rift stone, I can not find a single one with knowledge on the quest I'm doing, or any knowledge that appears to suggest they know the path.
For sure, there must be a way to search for pawns by knowledge if they're going to have my pawn suggest we find a guide, but I just can't seem to find it. I must be blind or something.
