Man, I was all set to make a female strider pawn, but reading that there's an overabundance of them is making me change my mind. :( In any case, how viable is it to have two in one group if one is focused on melee going on to Assassin and the other on ranged going on to Ranger? I hear they have low survivability, but I wonder if that can't be mitigated with a good healer.
I found that there's only like two good male voice sets so all the males you get in the rift all start to sound the exact same (the default voice set is used almost everytime). The girls have like three or four voice sets that are all pretty acceptable.

So with that said I was kind of bummed to make a male pawn cause all the male pawns I was pulling down sounded exactly like my own and I can't have that.

what's up with those bandit leaders. Ran into one on my way to witchwood, slaughtered my entire party without taking any damage; including 4 fully charged triple-shot fireballs to the face. Ended up doing the entire witchwood search quest with just 1 strider since she was the only pawn to not die horribly to the bandit.

They are there to let you know that you're supposed to do notice board quests are Cassardis until you're a bad enough dude(tte) to kill the bandit leader. Unfortunately I didn't even know that notice board quests existed until I was in Gran Soren 15 levels later.

EDIT:

I killed four Cyclopses, a Golem, and packs of bandits with ease and then got my poo poo pushed in by a bandit leader when he decided to one shot me. They're really, really dumb enemies. I'm level 28.

Hey guys! I'm having a good time, what about you?

Does anyone know of a good archistaff in the game? The only two I've seen are at the merchant in Gran Soren but those won't cut it. As a mage, I got a good staff from the lady that walks around Grand Soren, but I haven't found an archistaff equivalent on her.

It's kind of a bummer that I maxed out mage and have awesome spells to work with after switching to sorc, I just need a better archistaff to go along with it.

Kinda disappointed in the variety of items thus far, and the RPG-style restrictions against using "non-class" gear.

I've gotten as far as bringing the Hydra's head to Gran Soren, then I just kinda hosed off and killed a bunch of bandits, striped saurians, skeletons, hobgoblins, and a cyclops, pretty much just grinding levels.

So far, though, I've found the combat lacking. It's pretty much Dynasty Warriors level, just keep hitting your combo and once in a while do something special, or just stunlock enemies with the sprinting thrust attack. I'm not even finding that much use out of the grapple/climb mechanic. Half the poo poo I've tried climbing (Wild cyclops I killed, giant ape in the Everfall) either throws you off before you can get to whatever their weak point is supposed to be, or doesn't honestly seem to take any more damage from attacking them while climbing as compared to just cutting their ankles up.

Worst of all to me, it doesn't seem particularly difficult at all, they just give enemies loving shitloads of health so that you can have a lackluster fight with a cyclops or ape for 30 minutes while not being in a particular amount of danger as long as you manage yourself and keep reviving your pawns so they can tank the damage.

Am I just flat out doing something wrong, or is my experience the average experience for a melee fighter in this game?

This has definitely not been my experience with the Strider so far. You realize loot is found pretty much exclusively in chests and shops as opposed to enemy drops right?

This is goddamn brilliant and every mage needs to know this. I'm level 30 and didn't realize this but it's a bit of a gamechanger. One of my major complaints is that spells that lock on don't have a long enough range but now I'm able to manually aim and pull targets from much further away.

Yes. So far I've mostly found arrows and a few throwing items which I can only assume are bombs of some sort when I open chests. Been selling those for spare cash. Haven't actually found anything of use to me in a chest so far, which is disappointing to say the least.

EDIT: That money I've been using to buy out the weapon's shop and upgrade my and my main pawn's gear. Speaking of pawns, is the pawn you get at the start of the game just randomly pulled from the list of pre-made/online pawns, or is it always the same one? I've been wondering on that since the beginning.

I still need help with this. The only one who seems to do damage is my Warrior pawn but she's content by just jumping up and down doing piddy swings. Magic, as far as I can tell, is useless against these guys. It does absolutely no damage to them. How do I beat them with a mage aside from when my Warrior pawn decides to actually fight?

Where do I find quests that will bring me into dungeons? The only one I found was from one of my many cousins in Cassardis, to go into the well and kill a group of saurians (and a few bandits). All I found down there was some sort of chestpiece that I cannot recall the name of, which I've been wearing since.

I've never used a mage, but wouldn't buffing their weapons with fire or whatever really help them out? My mage does that for me and it works well, they are still tough as hell but I can definitely damage them from the back and sides. I didn't realize that they didn't take damage from magic though.

There's really no trick to this - your gear probably sucks and you're probably low level. Go do other stuff, like the main quest.

Also enhance your gear once you find some good pieces. Enhancing is VERY strong. Re-hire better pawns when you level up too, they'll probably come with better gear.

Do quests only expire when you HAVE them? Can I let quests lay unaccepted and come get them later, or will they expire at some point even if I haven't bothered?

Ah, out of curiosity anyone know where the front passage of this "Dripstone cave" is? I found the "rear passage" but there's a door locked from the other side. I really wish that the random loot was a little less random, or at least that the ornate chests had a guaranteed item spawn the first time you opened them. I went 37 levels (maxing rank and buying essentially every skill) without ever seeing a different magic bow drop.

It's really a bit of a bummer. I love the playstyle of the Magic Archer, but without gear upgrades your damage goes from subpar to absolutely irrelevant.

Ok another question. I just finished (spoilered just in case) the No Honor Among Thieves quest and got Maul's Badge of Amity, signifying we're friends. Dunno what good it's for, though. He still refuses to give me the grimioire from the Troublesome Tome quest. He says I should just fight him for it. Is that the only way?
