I have not the foggiest idea. All I know is, I have a bruise on my arm in the shape of a tread pattern, and a bone bruise on my elbow, and my shorts from last night should probably be burned. And none of this was in the pit, mind you, I was up in front right against the riser, it was just that goddamn crazy the entire time. There were people literally hanging off the pipes on the ceiling.

I'm going, though. Wish I could've gone to CT to see The Fad, though. And HKPOE! is still one of my favorite live acts. I enjoy them playing Party In The USA way too loving much. And then the awkward moments when only like, 10 of the people there know Waiting Room. Like come on

It means there will be three of us. I will be a banana, one of my friends will be in a robot costume, and one of them will be wearing a really cool suit. This is not a complex thought.

ASOB was everything I expected and more, and all of the openers loving killed it. I don't know why I'm always surprised by laura stevenson and the cans, because goddamn they have been flawless every time I've seen them. If only Shinobu would turn up the vocals. Don't think I've ever been able to hear them.

I definitely saw you in the banana costume, and I saw the robot boxes flying around a few minutes into ASOB's set. Man, for as tall as that room was, it got sweaty as gently caress.

The Mu330 pit was way more fun than it had any right to be, though.

Anyone going to be in NYC on Saturday? I came across this horribly compressed flyer for a show at Mercury Lounge that's advertising a "special guest" band named 8 Iron Men. Does their logo look familiar to anyone? It's Mephiskapheles. Here's a video from their most recent reunion show: http://youtu.be/XhSOztejjiw

Unsure how I feel about this. Hard to get a feel for it from the teaser, but I'm dying for some more fast paced stuff from them. Guess I won't know until the album drops. Hopefully soon!

Doesn't sound bad as they go, no radical stylistic departures or anything. There are a few fans around if I remember right. While it's not amazing, the album definitely does go back to their roots. Worth a listen.

Yeah, it really goes back to their older sound, and by older sound I mean "it's not a pile of poo poo." I only wish Scotty Klopfenstein was still there to sing the girl's parts when they tour.

I've been getting into Goldfinger lately, but it's hard. Their musical qualities are great, but they're lyrics are uniformly retarded, even when they're not preaching about animal rights.

Metal Loaf posted:Recently I went out and got myself a book called House of Fun: The Story of Madness. It's pretty comprehensive, I'd say it's definitely up there with Horace Panter's Ska'd For Life memoir as far as accounts of the 2 Tone years go. I much prefer 2 tone and traditional ska to 3rd wave. Not totally against punk influenced ska at all, but that's not the feel I'm into. I like the bass lines and skank riffs of original ska, and when it comes to faster ska I'd rather stick to the comparatively less rough sounding stuff put out by The Specials or Madness. Paradoxically though, there is a band out called Tyrannosaurus Alan from the UK that sounds pretty "rough" and I've been really into them lately. And more along the lines of 2 Tone are a band called The Skints, also from the UK. I guess I don't mind the move away from the traditional sound because having something new to listen to is refreshing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKa5vcJ1WcM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBqHKLKgCyk
