It's actually pretty good... although I still can't get my head around the name and font.
I found it hilarious that they got a movie trailer dude to to do the narration rather than Christopher Lee or Lispy the Wonder-elf. I kept waiting for "A robot renegade cop... in a world before time."

The narration is so lovely and embarrassing, just like it has always been. I actually think it's a pretty solid album though, especially the 16 minute finale.

Anyone who likes Amon Amarth could do worse than checking out the Destroyer 666 albums Phoenix Rising and Defiance. Try and get the LP version of the latter though, the cd version suffers from some real production problems.

Checked out the new Dying Fetus and gently caress me it rules! Totally took me by surprise if I'm honest, Subjected to a Beating was an awesome preview but I was sceptical of the album as a whole. Only up to "In The Trenches" so far, but from "From Womb to Waste" up to "In the Trenches" has been pure gold. So much groove in here, it's making me want to take a sledgehammer to someone's face, repeatedly.

I was at Orion festival - first of all, most of the crowd was indeed singing along to Four Horsemen - we just weren't mic'd.

Second, If you're going to play The Black Album in its entirety on the second night, and most people are going to both nights, why would you play Black album songs on the first night?!

Third, if you're going to have a festival named "Orion", and you're playing two complete sets, shouldn't one of the 40 ish songs be Orion?! :wtc:

Those complaints being said, the festival kicked rear end.

Also, I've decided that Ghost are the new greatest band.

Yesterday was the very last date of Comatour 2012, which featured Kraanium, Atrocious Abnormality, and Coathanger Abortion in Dayton, OH. Local bands were Created To Kill and Necrotic Disgorgement, and holy poo poo was that show awesome. All of the bands killed it, although Created To Kill was the weak spot. For a Sunday night there was a great turn out.

This is true. I saw them open for Mastodon and Opeth. They were amazing live. So amazing I picked up their CD at the show.

Now their music is great, but their lyrics are utterly ridiculous. Which I think makes me like them more. Heh. Well assuming it's not serious. If it is... welp... it's still funny.

Yeah the new album loving slays. I think they achieve the "organic yet technical" that Meshuggah were aiming for on Koloss better than Meshuggah do. (I'm not much of a 'Shuggah fan though so feel free to disagree.) However I'm sure I can hear a few recycled riffs, or at least very similar riffs to previous albums in there somewhere. It will take a few more spins for me to pick them out, but I love the album regardless. It's been waaay too long since we had new Gojira material.

I'll never turn down a municipal waste show. They seem to really get it. They keep their merch cheap (can't beat $12 shirts), they don't flap their gums between songs much, and they've been mingling in the crowd before/after their set.

I may not need to put on a municipal waste album very often but like Gwar they're worth seeing every time.

Kind of related to that Testament link, what the gently caress is with the Soundcloud widget and not having a volume control? I hate blowing up my ear drums when listening to a song on Soundcloud.

You think I'm fat, but it's an optical illusion.

I remember either Soundcloud or Bandcamp having some retarded explanation for not having a volume slider. It was something along the lines of, "We provide this music for free, so we want people to pay attention to it and not use it as background music for reading e-mails or playing video games. If you can't be arsed to change your computer's volume then gently caress you and don't come to our website to listen to this music..."

I figured that some of you would like to know this information from Dark Descent Records:

quote:

Starting now until July 15th, I'll be running a little drawing. Each person that makes a purchase during this time frame will be eligible to win a bundle of no less than 8 Dark Descent Records vinyl test presses (Each test presses is limited to 15 copies. ) or a CD promotional package for you non analog types. This is all free of charge...the only thing you need to do is purchase at least once during this period.

If you make multiple purchases, your odds will increase. I will literally choose a name out of a hat from each invoice.

This is a perfect time as I'll be adding lots of great items to the store over the next couple weeks.

I went ahead and bought a Corpsessed shirt because I would love to get on the winning end of that (which I know won't happen), but gently caress it.

Speaking of Corpsessed, here is a full live set their did recently at the Steelfest Open Air:
