Make sure you're holding down the Musou button. If you press it and release, it kind of works like an invincibility thing where you can run around and do whatever but if you hold it down it works like a continuous attack that usually does pretty good.

I still think it dishes out considerably less damage per musou bar, and is usually harder to aim than a Chinese musou attack too.

Might be a stupid question, but you are aware that you need to hold down the musou button for them to do their special musou attacks? It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure that out.

On the other hand, when the AI uses a Musou, the SW types (along with Orochi-specific character, like Himiko) are much deadlier because theirs no lead-up animation before they launch their attack. With the DW caracters, you have a precious 1 to 2 seconds to get the gently caress out of the way. (or at least activate your own musou)

This is a pretty good assessment of the situation. One of the main reasons Musou games are popular is because Sangoku/Sengoku are such popular settings for their core audience of Japanese players. I think an interesting time period that would appeal to that audience might be going back to China for something like the the 16 kingdoms, Spring and Autumn, or China's own Warring States period.

Am I wrong in thinking that something more like Lord of the Rings or especially Game of Thrones would be a better fit? With their exposure on the big and little screens I would think Japan would have some fan support for it.

Yeah, LOTR might work, I have no idea if Game of Thrones is known over there though. The beginning of the Fellowship movie sure LOOKS like a musou game, with Sauron as your player character.

Yeah, I knew it when I asked the question. And in all honesty with some of the Samurai it seems to be the better choice to just gently caress poo poo up with combos instead of holding down. Though I just got to the guest characters and seems like the ones who use the SW set up are God-like with their Musous. Ayane was only level seven and she was outdamaging the other two characters in my battle party who were level 15+. :psyduck:

growth points suck

I ran a test on this just now since it sounded pretty troubling to my OCD and leveled Susanoo from 24 to 25 in battle, then reset and leveled by growth points. Looked like this:

Battle: +5 life, +5 attack, +5 defense, +2 musou
GP: +6 life, +5 attack, +5 defense, +2 musou

So assuming I didn't write it down wrong during the battle, growth points seem to be a little better, actually. (?!)

I always used Playasia.com to import stuff, just checked and they have it for like $61, and "Asian" version for $45.

1 example isn't really much of a sample size. I assume it probably uses an identical formula for leveling up that has a slight RNG seed difference.

I'm spending way too much time in conquest getting every random Warrior their highest evolution perfect link. I think I've spent 20 hours in Hideyoshi's story just leveling Pokemons. Send help.

People did a lot of tests with this on Gamefaqs going from level 1 to 99. They found that each level seemed to get a random amount of stats within a range and they always ended up with their stats the same +/-5 points or something.

For those of you that enjoy the 'gotta repeat this map like twenty times and get a better score' aspect, enjoy a bit of grind for character development, and like brawlers with a variety of combos, I want to slightly derail a bit and suggest 'Lollipop Chainsaw' is a decent stop-gap for those of us between *Warriors titles. I picked it up after sufficient peer pressure from a couple friends, and really enjoyed it. It reminded me in numerous small ways of the things I enjoy in a good *Warriors title, so I figured I'd plug it a tiny bit here.

I'm guessing they'll incorporate as many of the DLC weapons into characters as possible like they did for WO3 and DW:N. But that's still not enough to give everyone unique movesets unless they directly port over the moves from WO3.

I went with Jolteon and I don't recall there was anything he sucked against for the duration of the basic campaign. Was good in the bird country and the ghost country. Probably my most consistent heavy-hitter apart from Kenshin and his green psychic thing he comes with.
Does Oichi have gold link with any good Pokemon? The only one I ever found besides _iggly_uff was that weird floating tumor/fetus that does Hypnosis, and that's pretty dumb. I hated that I had to take her on every major battle.

I read somewhere that Pokemon Dynasty Warriors was actually the original idea, but then they switched over to Pokemon/Nobunaga's Ambition. I have no idea how far along they took the original idea, it'd be cool if some videos surfaced at some point.

Yeah, I guess it would be harder for it to be silly fun when you are in an action game slaughtering dozens of pokemons per per second with a sword or whatever.

edit: Orochi 3 is B by the way, for violence and sexuality. The scale goes A, B, C, D, Z, but I have only seen a few Z games and they were in a special section of the game store. Porn games are obviously exempt. Another thing that was always interesting to me is that sexuality and romance are classified independently of each other, and sexuality is written in English.
