Mario betrayed the Troll Slaiyers back in one of the early chapters, there was even a fight scene involving him and Shadow's crew. He has shown himself to be quite the sociopath, seeing others as little more than expendable tools to be used to further his own personal goals. The only person he cared about was Luigi, and now Luigi's dead.

Shadow himself is sort of a sociopath--Mario even pointed out that Shadow had no problem killing Daffy and Bugs to get what he wanted. Tails Got Trolled is too complex and nuanced for that kind of black-and-white thinking. Everyone has their own goals and motives, and the push up against one another, but that's really about it.
