Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's Jimmy T.

I saw Madeon a few months ago, March or so. It was a good show, but his transitioning leaves something to be desired. It was really spotty at times. If you like Madeon's productions and his remixes, it might be worth the $30 to see him. I paid $25 and didn't feel ripped off, but sometimes his transitioning was incredibly jarring.

I caught a few clips of his Coachella show and it seems like he put a TON of work into his set. The transitions were fantastic and he mixed some great songs in between his remixes/originals. I would highly recommend seeing him as his live set has improved exponentially in the last few months. Plus, he plays Pop Culture live flawlessly.

I'm super biased, obviously, but man, y'all really ought to catch a stop on Porter's Language Tour if you get a chance. The M Machine's light wall thing is maybe my favorite concert experience ever, and ghostdad has been totally killing it with Porter's visuals lately. Mat Zo is a phenomenally talented DJ, too. He played in New Orleans last night and I had no idea until I saw somebody post about it on Twitter like an hour before the show. I would've gone had I known about it :(

Yeah I heard about the bad transitions with his early shows, but those recent clips from Coachella are what has me considering it now. Coughing up 30 to a lovely venue just isn't the greatest feeling though, hmm.

It's not what I was expecting. Electronic music has changed a lot in the last few years, so I thought it'd sound pretty different to their other songs. I didn't want it to sound like Bangarang, but this is kind of disappointing.

'edm' already has enough snobbery in it, this is a piss poor effort.

Adam F! Noooo! :( Oh well, I can't blame him for wanting to make a track that contains both uplifting prog-house chords and angry Skrillex noises. It probably pays a lot better than what he used to do. If he can compete against the many other people who make music like that now.

He did a show with Nero here on Saturday (I didn't go but I wanted to) and I was really surprised to see Adam F's name on the bill. But now I understand. Has anyone seen him DJ lately? I wonder what his sets are like, whether it's all music like this, or whether there's any jungle or hip-hop thrown in. Well, I guess throwing "Circles" in the middle of a set full of Knife Party is not exactly the mark of a good DJ, so maybe there's my answer.

Never been to Belgium
He's been making that kind of stuff for a while now. This was his single from earlier this year.

To give him his due it is slightly better than the average Beatport release, though that's very, very faint praise. Who knows, maybe he's getting a bit jealous of label co-owner Fresh's chart success or something and trying to get in on that. Or maybe the Pendulum money is just getting a bit low nowadays.

At least the video has reminded me of my resolution to completely ignore anything with the UKF name attached in any way, shape or form.

Has he changed the way he does his sets since last year? When I saw him last fall he opened for a Tiesto show here. He kept doing these 'fake drops' where he'd have a massive buildup and right at the peak he'd basically stop the music. Was really frustrating and killed the energy of his set for me.

I hear his club sets and festival sets are the same, as in, no longer than one hour. Apparantly his act is much more "live" than many other DJ's. Whatever, seeing him at Identity Fest, better not be any schedule conflicts.

Azari & III. If you want an answer to the question, "What would Prince do if he had to make classic Chicago house using modern technology?" then listen to Azari & III. Get their album it's great. But don't call them Chicago house to their face they'll get mad. If you like them you might also like Art Department but personally they're too weird for me. Actually just listen to anything coming out of Toronto. Canadian house rebirth 2012

Other than that, just keep listening to Chicago and French house. If that's what you're used to, the current landscape might be a bit disappointing.

Sometimes I like to use this website to find new artists: http://www.musicmaze.fm/

You put in an artist to start with and it gives you 6 related artists. Click one of those and you get 6 related to them, and so on. The music database is pretty poorly maintained though, and it tends to conflate artists with the same name. If you start with Art Department you'll notice that the Jamie Jones samples belong to Jamie Jones the R&B singer, not Jamie Jones the DJ and owner of Hot Creations. Regardless, it's still a powerful tool and I use it all the time when I'm outside of my areas of expertise.

Have you heard Storm Queen - It Goes On (http://youtu.be/-G2aOgvLv-c)? That was the first tune that came to mind but I could probably give some better recommendations if I had something more specific to go on. What do you look for in a house track? Any examples?

IT KEEPS HAPPENING
Madeon does seem to have been taken under wing and promoted by such dance-music-for-people-who-don't-listen-to-dance-music sorts as Pendulum and deadmau5 who tend to put out albums more often, so it may very well be his fate to follow suit.

We'll probably see an Avicii album before we see a Madeon album though.
