Honestly, based on the design they used for Amy, this was probably made early on, where there really weren't many other Sonic characters. There was Eggman, but he'd never let Sonic be his king, because he's bad and Sonic is good.

That chess set looks really eerily similar to Sonic 3D Blast. Old-style Amy Rose is cute, though  Christ, this comic. Things from it have permanently taken up shop in my brain. Talking about plans with someone? "ok ill tell him the loving awesome plan" immediately pops up. And then I want to start laughing, but it is impossible to explain why. Same thing when I'm listening to my mom rant and rave over something she read on the internet. "you mad. you mad. you look mad. yeah shes mad" It's hard to keep nodding and appearing concerned and sympathetic with that in my head.

I love Rob. He just wants to save his friend.  EDIT: I've been rereading the comic and I've noticed a few things about Pori, too. When the Troll King kills Sonic, he says something like "just like last time", which might imply he's been around since the medieval days and saw the Troll King kill all those medieval dudes, and in Chapter 5 when Doug says that he'll come to the Defenders hideout with info on if Tails is a troll or not, Skeeter says that Pori might now show up "like that last time".
