Well, I can't complain about their customer service. I called to ask if I could expedite the shipping on my rMBP, and they said no. It had just gone to shipping and it was too late to upgrade. I was sad, and so Michelle (the phone rep) offered me a free case. I said thank you and she said she would check the store and see what they had available. A few seconds later, she came back and offered me a SuperDrive instead. I said thank you, and she overnighted it to me. Pretty cool.

Lion right now in with the hopes it might help but I am pretty much grasping at straws with that. Strangely I logged into my Apartment Complex's lovely wifi and it seemed really stable albeit really slow. Now I am wondering if my router and my iMac are just having some fundamental communication problem that only affects that specific computer. Sorry about blabbing about my iMac woes so much dudes. Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna figure this out eventually. Does anyone know how BHPhoto is able to offer Applecare for so cheap? Is this "Mini Display port to Display port cable" the correct way to connect a 2012 Macbook Air to a Dell 2412m? The Monitor has HDMI/DVI/DisplayPort. I did some hardware upgrades to my early 2011 MBP this weekend and I never thought that adding an SSD would make that much of a difference but wow does it ever. It almost makes me wish I would have put it in my desktop instead. One question I do have is does anyone know off hand why apple didn't roll out the firmware upgrade for power nap to the early 2011 models? Is it an Ivy bridge vs sandy bridge thing? Not that it really matters much its just something I'd like to have and can't see the reason why they didn't.

I don't know if this is the reason, but it seems like Apple like to withhold cool features in hopes that people upgrade. Why doesn't the iPhone 4 have Siri? Aslo, final update. iMac wifi is officially fixxxed. Thanks Mountain Lion. gently caress you Lion.

Edit: It was a phone software issue in that the software could not compensate for some slightly different hardware in a batch of phones, and 5.1 had a software change that could cope with the variation in hardware. Technically, the hardware wasn't defective, the drivers were.

According to John Siracusa's Mountain Lion review, Power Nap only works with flash storage (spinning a hard disk up requires spinning up fans, which basically makes it pointless) so it won't be supported on anything outside of MBAs and rMBPs.

So I've got an older 4,1 MBP sitting here that I mess around with as a test machine. I had the battery swapped out last year around this time under AppleCare but now I'm getting a 'Not Charging' Replace now message on the machine. The battery seriously only has 14 cycles on it. It's not the end of the world, but if there is some trick to getting this thing charged again it would be nice to not have the machine die if it gets accidentally unplugged.

When I had my dual-drive Mini I relocated my user folder to the platter drive, and that seemed to work great. In Users > right click on user name > Advanced Options

Returning my 2012 MacBook Air, the SSD is quite slow with filevault. Reading the anantech article explains why. Ended up with a Toshiba SSD and LG screen sigh so unlucky.

Maybe you should have cycled your battery more often. 14 in one year is nonsense, they're rated at a few hundred per year. In my experience keeping a MacBook or MacBook Pro constantly plugged in over days and weeks ruins the battery in short order. Also better to let the battery run down to 50% then pull the plug and leave it unplugged if you're not using it for a long while.
