I'm on a MBP. I've set display dimming off in Energy Saver. My display still dims sometimes. I don't know when, and I don't know why, but it does. Am I crazy or is it doing this for other people too?

Kind of sucks that Siri isn't a new voice in ML for text-to-speech. I wonder if they'll phase her in. I know it's not a "her", but I can't make myself refer to her as an "it".

OK, so *what* exactly is the deal with scrolling? I'm on a late 2009 MacBook and I don't plan on switching from Chrome to Safari if that's relevant. I really wanna try all the cool new stuff in ML but the scrolling issue is what's putting me off so far.

Is this site: http://ats-vs-world.cadillac.com/ causing a system freeze for anyone else? Opening it in Safari 6 ML. After the site loads and the 'tiles' turn around, I need to hard reboot the MBP, nothing responds anymore. Found the link as an excellent example of HTML5 being used. Apparently.

If your machine supports it, the only real reason to not upgrade for twenty bucks would be that this really does feel like a service pack for Lion and not a new OS. It's probably got just enough new candy that it's worth the $20, but I could easily see myself staying with Lion if I had to, as long as the software support is there.

Crackpipe posted:So glad to see Messages still doesn't really work. Agreed. For whatever reason, iMessages will show up instantly in Messages at the same time as my iPhone, but after a few minutes they desync and message will only come to my iPhone. If I reply in the Messages window, eventually everything comes through but out of order. I also get randomly disconnected from AIM in Messages, to the point where I'm back to using Adium for IM with Messages open just for iMessages. It's redundant and frustrating. This and the graphical flickering/glitching in Safari 6 are the only things I don't really like about Mountain Lion.

Notification Center is literally the only new ML feature I've actually noticed, and I like Growl slightly better than it, so I've personally found ML to be a (very minor) downgrade from Lion.

How would you possibly consider it a downgrade? You can still install Growl... Also: http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/features.html

If I designate a drive for a Time Machine backup, can I still store files on it? Hypothetical here is backing up my computer to external HDD but keeping my music library on the drive and off the SSD.

Other than that, I guess dictation seems like a really cool idea and I'm using it to post this right now. I'm not sure if is just a novelty though.

With "clamshell mode" as someone called it earlier..is there any way that I can connect up my macbook air and wake it up without opening it? It seems that I can never get it to turn on, I constantly leave the MBA open whilst using the second display as a primary. My setup is USB Mac Keyboard Magic Mouse thunderbolt - to - hdmi - to - my monitor and its connected to power.
