Meet The Feebles seems like it was made to be posted in this thread at this time. Its some type of dark grotesque satire of The Muppet Show and is basically "what the hell am I watching?" incarnate the whole way through. Perhaps one could imagine that this is what TGT might look like if it was produced in the 80's with puppets and a budget of 750 grand. If Mr. Black wants me to laugh at him, he succeeds. However, most of the time, it seems he wants me to laugh with him, and therein he fails. In fact, that's a really good example: in "Be Kind, Rewind", the main film was meant to be funny because you laughed with it, and the Sweded films were meant to be funny because you laughed at them. The scene posted above, those characters are meant to provide contrast to the horror aspect of the film. The character is one that you're supposed to find ridiculous, so you end up laughing with the film, since you're directed to laugh at the character. But the character isn't doing anything funny. Random? Loud? Yes. But it's not entertaining. The film seems to say "Ha ha, isn't this guy hilarious?" and the only answer I find is "No." But even if I'm wrong, and we end up disagreeing on whether the film is or is not taking itself seriously, it doesn't matter. I said it was a terrible film - whether it was aiming to be serious, or aiming to be amusing, in both respects this film fails. It's too disjointed and lacking a decent plot, acting, script and effects to work if it's taking itself seriously; and similarly, if it's trying to be funny, the same flaws are what cause House to fail to elicit a laugh. e: Bleeeergh, this is why I was going to stay out of it. Uhh, no, even the "horror" parts of House are meant to be funny, or at least strange. It's a satirical movie; every character is a clich to the point of parody, and the special effects were deliberately designed to look as though they were made by a child. EDIT: That's why that fat watermelon character is so over the top. It's not comic relief, it's a parody of comic relief and that's why that scene is more uncomfortable than funny. That was the intent.
