I would honestly rather pay $10 than $0 for a multiplayer game. The $10 is the price to keep out people who can't scrape together $10. It works alright for Something Awful.

Shadowhand00 posted:Echoing some sentiments in here about Leon being nerfed - I don't really mind him unless I'm playing Voltar - then I get a little frustrated. That being said, instead of nerfing his damage, the most effective nerf would be for his invisibilty to be slightly visible (kind of like the Predator running around) rather than nerfing his damage. This would probably make people whine more than anything else. I don't know if this has been mentioned before but on the AI station, after the initial turret has been destroyed, there's an area where the floor lights up when you walk on it and Leon makes the floor light up even when he's invisible. As Lonestar, I noticed this and would walk up, drop triple dynamite and start blasting and I don't think the Leon player ever knew how I knew he was there. If Leon players are forced to have a bit more awareness and can't just stand there waiting for easy kills, it might make some of them change up their style but it also might cause a lot of them to call the game ruined and never play again.

I just got this last night, and have been playing as Froggy G. Froggy G makes Leon his bitch and I love it. Can other people hear your music when you go on a killing spree or is it just your local?

I am having a hell of a time getting Derpl to work well at all. The turret mode has way too little range and damage-output to be worth committing to a single spot for about five seconds, so I just end up spamming the cats while laying down traps everywhere. What is the methodology of this class.

Derpl used to be insanely overpowered — his nuke was out of control — and the outcry was so loud and unanimous on the ronimo forums that the devs nerfed him too much. Now he's basically only good for traps and dealing damage from behind turrets. They've been tweaking him like crazy, so I'd wait for the next patch before you pass judgement.

I don't mind that Leon can gank you if you are low somewhere by yourself, and even his pull is fair. But right now his stealth is basically get out of jail free, he can solo turrets and your base by himself, and he is too strong in just straight up fistfights. A lot of games I play end up where even if I have gone all game avoiding his assassination attempts and scaring him away, at some point he can just run straight up to me unstealthed and beat me up with autoattacks. Then proceed to backdoor the base and get it down to half health before anyone could react.

For Derpl: get movespeed and turret range upgrades, run around and farm and push lanes and avoid 1v1 fights. If you see your allies tangling with enemies, jump behind them and turret up to pin them in. Lategame, turret shield and health buffs means you can set up somewhere obnoxious and plink away into the teamfights, as long as your allies are smart and try to drag the brawl toward where you have set up (as long as you put yourself in a smart spot). Also the turret has a 3 second cooldown, and the Deployment Pads will reduce that as well if it's too annoying.

I like to snare people in the mines then transform and send a nuke to greet them, a lot of people also like to hug derpl in turret mode, so that's a point blank nuke to the face.

I can't remember who was concerned about it in the goon games yesterday but just so everyone knows, when you prestige all the characters remain unlocked (practice levels too I think). The perks get reset, though.

I have to say, I think the gameplay is good but the game is ruined by the multiplayer system. If your internet drops, you can not re-connect. More often than not you join a game already in progress and start behind. Sometimes the host drops and the whole game goes down. I would not suggest spending your 10$ on this game, I regret spending mine.

coyo7e posted:Also, it'd be terrible if there were swarms of new/poor(young and without payment choices) players stuck using lonestar and voltar and clunk, and everybody who used Derpl or Yuri or the hovergirl or Leon etc, had paid to use them. Well you could do what other MOBA's do and just make characters rotate in and out of free play. Although with its current roster I could see how that would be kind of busted. Some food for thought.. I saw a shadow in the load screen talking about a character 'coming soon'. I wonder if that will be released for free - or DLC. Edit: All this being said and after reading the post above mine, I would still recommend this game for $10. I do think matchmaking can be pretty janky. It's a bit unbalanced at times. As a previous poster said, fixing that would turn a good game into a great game.

Derpl is so fun, I love that guy. Derpl + Voltar + Clunk is the best pubstomp team, the healing turret makes it so hard to kill you so can just go into siege mode, blow poo poo up, and tank a turret and 2 guys. Also outdamages Leon hard in siege mode.

Just bought this last night. I had a lot of fun leveling up and switched from froggy-G to shoot'em-up-Tex. Getting piggybank at level 5 or 6 was my turning point; I start strong with movespeed and rush dynamite +1, explode on contact, and leech nades. From there I slap on a missile, and endgame max out my blaster. A strong primary attack is incredibly useful for dishing out damage at the end. e:just realized how good +dmg then movespeed rush is...chasing anyone while pewing them to bits is too good. Especially when you follow with health and rockets. Mongoose fucked around with this message at 17:00 on Aug 8, 2012 |

How do you guys like to build Froggy? I've been doing damage and cooldown on splash dash, getting the shield on tornado around level 6-7, and then maxing cooldown on splash and alternating between splash stun duration, tornado duration, and tornado speed. Also: Is there a way to change the crosshair? I keep losing it and making bad plays.

Does anyone have plans to make streams/recordings of themselves playing? I enjoy playing the game but sometimes I need to do other things, and having Awesomenauts in the background while working would be pretty cool. I haven't been able to find any good streams yet, unfortunately.

That's pretty much how I've been going. Improve splash as much as possible first while fitting in tornado shield where I can. I normally take tornado damage over duration though, and make sure to max tornado speed before damage unless my team is spike heavy or I'm running away with the game at which point I just take damage first. I wish I knew how to change the crosshair, it's truly awful.

Whether some like it or not, progression-style gameplay is incredibly popular these days. I personally am not a huge fan of it, but I'd rather pay ten bucks for a short easy grind than nothing for a grind that takes over a week to unlock ONE character or I could pay that ten for ONE guy instead. If you really want to level fast, just random your character each game. The multiplier is nuts.

They have been scaling back the amount of unlocking that's required for fighting games and I think that's the right model for these types of games. After a couple of iterations of sequels or what not, people want to just get straight to the game with everyone available.

It seems like an okay compromise to lock Derpl behind a few levels so you have to play a handful of matches with easier people first given that a lot of the standard moba mechanics don't actually work like they do in other mobas. I still have no idea how to use him correctly. What was his damage like before he got nerfed? He seems sort of underpowered compared to the unstoppable murder machine that is Coco.
