The hill is the absolute worst place to defend on that map. Almost no cover, high chance of being pincered on both sides. Sure, you've got the high ground but the Banshees don't care.

I really think London is a pretty fun map, but I've mostly played Salarian Infiltrator with cloak duration on it, so it's pretty easy to move among the rubble and stay in cover. Really hectic/fun at times. I can definitely see how it would be infuriating with a slow moving/no cloak class though.

I quite like London too. The deal breaker is the objectives though. Some of the hack locations are just brutal. Theres one near the starting area and two in the main street in the middle of the map which are so exposed they just turn into meat grinders. Always annoying when the drone you're escorting decides to dawdle at a snails pace along the middle of the bloody street as well.

Shotgun Human Sentinel conclusions: I just couldn't justify dropping below 150% cooldowns, nor losing Throw, and even leaving Throw at Rank 3 felt like a pointless waste of potential when I moved points over to Alliance Training. So I basically ended up being an Adept who shot more because of Tech Armor, but only a bit.

The better takeaway, though, was realizing how much the Tempest can destroy Armor if you combine Pierce-specced Warp and the new penetration mod for SMGs (mine is level I, but V apparently reduces it by 90% by itself). Literally took out a half dozen Gold Atlases by myself last night due to Phantomed pubbies, and my Turian Sentinel with this setup took only slightly longer to get through the Armor than Shields. Not surprising, given the Tempest apparently has one of the best sustained DPS in the game, though there's a pretty mighty asterisk regarding being able to stick your head out for that long. Wonder how the numbers work out DPS-wise versus the Phaeston, though, when you account for it being able to equip both a +damage and +penetration mod.

There's really no farming specific spec but this is what I run. Use the grenade capacity gear and your two best guns. Low weight can be helpful but it is not a priority. Use arc grenades for trash and medium tier enemies. For heavy armored units alternate between arc and homing for extra tech burst damage.

The Piranha is the gun for farming platinum but with the AP mod at 5 a Hurricane makes a drat fine substitute. Which is good since I'm getting low on shotgun amps.

How much would the hunter mode accuracy buff on a Gethfiltrator help with the Pirahna?

LeastActionHero

Any accuracy buff is immensely helpful, and Hunter Mode is no exception. The Piranha still isn't a long range weapon like it is for the Turian Soldier, but it's extremely effective out to at least 10 metres, and it's still good out to 30 metres.

I have a Hurricane as a long range backup for my GI, which works a bit better for hitting phantoms beyond 20 metres, but I spend 90% of the time happily using the Piranha regardless of range.

You'll want to keep your cooldown bonus as close to 200% as possible with the Shadow, so I'd suggest picking just one of them. Also, a melee damage attachment really helps a lot for that class because it boosts your Shadow Strike damage, so you should probably look into either a shotgun or a pistol.
The Piranha is ok if you have it. I've found that I'm achieving the best results with a Talon with melee stunner and scope.

I like doing 4]this build for Krogan Sentinel where you skip Incinerate entirely, equip the heaviest, most badass weapons possible, and launch enemies halfway across the map with your melee attacks. You have to play more cautiously than a Battlemaster but your melee is stronger and you can carry all the firepower you want.

We still haven't agreed on a playstyle/spec for the Slayer. You do have a couple of options, though, and there are a couple of points that everyone seems to agree.

Biotic Slash has a stupid and long wind-up animation, but if you spec it for damage, it hits like a goddamned truck. So, you should probably do that. The other thing agreed upon is that teleporting around is awesome, and combined with smart Charge usage, Slayer is the most mobile class in the game.

Now, it has been proposed that Slayer should be played like an Adept, since Phase Disruptor is its unique ability, and is pretty awesome (most of the time), and BS hits so hard--not to mention how squishy the Slayer can be. Personally, I like to play him as if he were Nightcrawler, doing teleporting heavy melee attacks to kill dudes through walls, then ninja-flipping back to where I was, and using my biotics opportunistically.

I'm still playing around with my build, but if I figure out something good, I'll certainly let everyone know. Suffice it to say his melee can be loving insane; throw a bayonette on a Disciple, and you're in good shape to decapitate anything without shields, and some things with shields. Once a Phantom gets down to ~50% barrier, I'll just Charge + Heavy Melee, and add another head to my belt. :smug:

Cloaked SS + Heavy Melee = instant win button against Phantoms IF they aren't already targeting you. If they are you risk getting a gut-stab mid-Charge.

I had a Platinum game end that way once :(

Anyway even if they aren't, the post SS Melee lockon can be really hit and miss. Best bet is probably just to run away while it's flipping around and let the SS DOT finish it off.

N7 Slayer Guide

The Slayer is an excellent class and when played correctly is extremely effective on gold. All three active powers are great and we're taking them all to 6 and we have a couple of options for speccing the passives.

Biotic Charge: Take the radius, power synergy and barrier options. The slayer is a power heavy class and you won't be relying on your gun for damage.

Phase Disruptor: Take damage, efficient blast and shield damage. This power does not lock on at all; it always fires directly where you are aiming. This means you can snipe with it. It also has an area of effect so if you can shoot it at the floor to avoid misses. You can often hit enemies in cover by shooting the floor behind them. People sometimes compare this power to Nova, but it is not Nova. If you use it like Nova you will die. You have no invincibility frames when using it so do not use it after a charge. You want to use Phase disruptor before you charge to use up your remaining barrier. You want the shield damage option because with it you can kill shielded infantry (centurions, rocket troopers, marauders etc) on gold with two shots and a charge. Armor damage would be nice but this is a crowd control power we'll be relying on Biotic Slash for single target damage.

Biotic Slash: Take damage, detonate, and damage. This is your fallback power for when you can't charge. It goes through walls and obstacles so abuse the hell out of that or the long wind up animation will get you killed. For maximum damage fire off Phase Disruptor during Slash cooldowns and then use your time Slashing behind cover to regenerate your barriers.

Passives: I went 5/3 here and then use Stronghold Package 5 to make up for the missing fitness. You don't need the weight reduction from the passive at all so you could in theory make a cut here for more points in fitness but nearly all of your damage comes from your powers so I don't recommend going beyond a 4/4 split. Only go for 4/4 if you don't have the stronghold package gear.

Weapons: We're going for power damage here so travel light. I'd recommend a Tempest with the stability mod and the AP barrel. It's light as hell does decent damage at close to medium range (for long range just use Phase Disruptor). You'll only really be using your gun to finish off nearly dead enemies after you charge or for shooting on the run. The Tempest works really well for both of these functions because it works well as a bullethose and you won't have time for careful aiming anyways. You should have enough extra weight to pack a Phalanx or some other ultralight equipped pistol but you won't really need it at all.

Playing the Slayer

You want to be mobile as much as possible. When you find a group of enemies hit them twice with your phase disruptor (you'll have some barrier left for protection) then charge to recover your barrier. Use your tempest to finish of any nearly dead enemies and then us your refilled barrier to keep you alive while you run/teleport away and back to cover. You're not a Krogan so you want to avoid taking fire as much as possible. If your getting shot up quickly use your teleport to get to cover and spam Slash while you regenerate shields.

Your teleport will take you farther then a roll would so you can charge Atlases and Brutes fairly safely if you teleport away before they react. Try to avoid charging Phantoms and Banshees though. Whenever you find a group that's too dangerous to charge into or if you need to be stationary for an objective you can fallback on Phase Disruptor and Biotic Slash. Use the Slash to continue your damage output while regenerating your barriers behind cover.

For objectives remember that you can teleport through walls. This can allow you to bypass groups of enemies and quickly complete objectives when your team gets bogged down.

This is my nonmelee build for gold.

BatSol has Inferno Grenades, not Cluster. They run off damage over time, but are absolutely brutal and good area coverage if you can afford to let them tick. Thus they synergize well with Ballistic Blades, which is also a strong AoE and staggers guys giving the grenades time to kill. Lob a couple into an Atlas (after shields are down, it seems to do reduced shield damage) and watch it melt.

Unfortunately the rank 6 area evolution is currently bugged; it gives the increased area but not the extra fragment, which *massively* boosted grenade coverage when it worked.

EDIT: for comparison, QMInf's Arc Grenades are considered very good, and speccing for area/dot (to have the same damage bonuses as my BatSol for clear comparison, since I don't wanna spend a respec card on him or do math) they do 924 base damage (with full power boosting passive), 1617 to either armor or barrier/shields. Inferno Grenade does 1925 damage over 8 seconds with the same evolutions, 2887 to armor if you go for that.

Arc can be tech burst more easily than Inferno gets fire explosions, but the comparison's still there.

Just tried proper Glacier/Platinum farming for the first time and... 3/3 successes.

There was only one game out of four I joined with a team composition I didn't feel comfortable with (plus one N7 58 guy - thanks, but no), the rest were all filled with various biotic class combinations, consisting of at least one smasher (or equivalent) and one AJ. The objectives can get hairy, but everyone generally knows using missiles is the way to go in such situations. The quickest W10 completion run was about 20 minutes - far quicker than the average W/G/G run, considering how most people playing that go for extraction for some reason (the fastest I ever had on there was 18 minutes, which was with people who actually knew what they were doing). The rest were about on par time-wise, though obviously with double the cash reward and infinitely less stupidity. And more excitement.

My impression so far: I feel a lot more comfortable joining a G/?/P game than a random Silver one, assuming the former has a class composition that looks like it's going to work and the players put on consumables.

Speaking of Silver, it's gotten so, so bad. I tried two games for the squad goal and both failed because some dunce inevitably got executed on the extraction wave. I used to like Silver because it's not as sleep inducing as Bronze while still allowing you to fool around somewhat, but holy crap it's become so unnecessarily painful. You better be using a class you feel comfortable soloing with, because that's what you'll end up doing half the time. Also don't expect anyone to use missiles or Medi-Gel, ever. (Finally completed the goal on Bronze with a Shadow, which was absolutely ridiculous. Cloak > SS > Heavy melee, dead Brute. Repeat twice, dead Banshee [if you stand on a slope so she can't grab you]. The only thing remotely dangerous was Ravager acid.)

I've played a fair bit of Silver today and I've seen the usual problem, pubbies running off on their own and getting killed.

I've upped my standard game to Silver because I'm finding Bronze ridiculously easy, but I'm not sure if I've got the stuff for Gold. I was searching for a Bronze game earlier, and got dumped in Gold with my lvl 10 Justicar. I was the only biotic, couldn't detonate anything myself, and got 15 revives running round keeping people upright. I'd equipped a Carnifex VI and the 10% extra pistol damage, but my pistol didn't do much, and I didn't have the necessary evolutions on my powers to contribute much.

I was still the only person to use a loving missile though when we needed to clear the objective and had an Atlas next to some Guardians just begging to get wiped out.

We got wiped on wave 8, when a stupid pubbie ran off on his own, got killed, and I tried to res him but got caught by an Atlas and two Phantoms. I'd burned through all my medigel, we both got executed, and then the two guys left just couldn't get through the wave and piles of Atli and Phantoms, and the engineers that had time to set up turrets without getting killed off.

When a teammate runs off to die alone you really do need to think twice about going to get them on gold. Often you'll just go from being down one player (usually a bad one) to two.

Most wipes happen when a bad player goes down out of cover in a crossfire and refuses to gel. When it happens you need to either clear the area with a missile or just finish the wave without him.
