I stumbled upon this band called Deep Time and I am absolutely loving them. They only have one album so far, but it is absolutely fantastic. I can't really give you an idea of what they sound like.

Check it out. Here's "Clouds", my favourite off the album.

These guys got a good review from Pitchfork but not a lot of attention, which is a shame because they're really good. They remind me a little of French Toast or Diiv. I just wish somebody would upload more songs from the album than just Clouds onto Youtube.

Wild Nothing is coming out with a new album next week (8/28). Here's a single from Nocturne called 'Shadow': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnRLPaYXvoU

Craft Spells, did no one mention that they released an EP 'Gallery' about three months ago? I haven't seen any talk about it in this thread, but they're worth an extra reminder. Here's 'Still Left With Me' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07h_jB63L64.

For any of you into chillwave music check out Sunrom. A friend of mine showed me their song 'Le Sable' and I've been hooked (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXRr514m5fM)

King Tuff released their self titled just this past May and their song 'Bad Thing' feels a lot like twee mixed with hard rock. Here's a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkxlZk-IYZk

As for The XX's new album I'm kind of on the fence about their new songs. I just listened to 'Chained' and heard 'Angels' before and it feels a lot slower than their previous work. It's almost too slow.

Anyone here listen to Natural Child? I just discovered them and they're pretty great. They kind of remind me of a more garage-rock version of the Rolling Stones. Usually I'm into the more lo-fi folk stuff, but sometimes you just need to rock.

Searched the thread and NMD, didn't see anything, so I'm gonna go ahead and pass on a recommendation for The Novel Ideas who have a few albums up for name-your-price (no minimum) or free at their bandcamp and Spotify. It's standard folk-rock that doesn't really break any boundaries or anything, but I've been enjoying their album Home a bunch lately. Definitely worth checking out if you have some time.

It's hard to describe what kind of music they make.
The new EP is great, but someone mentioned that the lead single sound like Cake and now I can't unhear the comparison.

But yeah, cLOUDDEAD, Object Beings and Why? are some of y favourite groups ever, so of course I am going to eat this EP up. Apparently he is playing 21st Century Pop Song on this tour, so I guess I have to see him if he comes out this way.

So the new Grimes video is um... well, I don't really want to say it because I mean look at my avatar, but... it's kind of a little bit terrible.

I loved all her other videos, but this one is just so dumb. Boucher said she wants to make a video for every track on the album, and I just hope when she gets to Be a Body she doesn't gently caress around.

I think her former love of Nu Metal is starting to take its place in her own image.

That video is balls, intentionally campy doesn't always mean it's ok to be campy.

That video is a perfect example.

Agreed in full. I am not normally one to say that a particular popular artist (let's face it, if you've heard of them, they're popular) has found or founded a significant new trend in music and aesthetics, but the whole thing seems to me like the sight and sound forerunner of early 90s/beginning-of-the-internet-era/animes/mall goths revival that kind of started to crystallize in the "sea punk" quasi movement of 2011-early 2012. Looking forward to seeing her further work within this trend.

I had never heard of this group before, thank you for fixing that. For having an overall mood that is somewhat disconcerting, every sound in this song has a very soothing tone to me. It feels like several lullabies that shouldn't be heard at the same time being shakily sewn together, but I really like it.

NPR's All Songs Considered is mostly indie music with some pop, folk, world, and random genres thrown in occasionally. They have their main show podcasted as well as live concert podcasts and All Songs 24/7 streaming all the time at their website. One of the best features is that they have been doing the first listen on a lot of great indie albums over the past few years where whole albums will be available for streaming the week before their hard release.

Fang Island released a new album. Not sure how I feel about it yet but I'll give it some time. Their sophomore album was amazing to me but this one doesn't have as much that stands out. It's a pretty formulaic song structure with not as many surprises, but it's loving happy harmonic rock.

Finally got around to giving this a good listen over the last few days. You're spot on, it really hasn't got anything on their self titled or even Day of the Great Leap, but it's a pretty consistent album with some real instant-classics. If you haven't already, give Victorinian a good listen, I think it's been the highlight of my listening experience so far.
Definitely worth a look for anyone into instrumental/melodic/seriously motivational good vibes music.

Whenever a AC thread gets made, about seven people reply to it and then it falls off the forum forever. This forum doesn't seem that into indie music.

Fun fact, I registered my SA account to create a Strawberry Jam thread here. I was insta-banned for using the "Hot" tag like an idiot. When I reregistered to make another one, about seven people replied to it until it fell off the forum forever. A drat well $30 spent.

After one listen, I have to say that I like it quite a bit. It's more immediately enjoyable to me than MPP, but not as mind-blowing as Strawberry Jam (which may forever be my favorite AC album). I really like the sound though, and there are some really great moments. I'm looking forward to listening to this a lot more.

Basically this. I don't really get why so many places on the internet go apeshit over them. It's about all I could read about for a couple days. I never really got Animal Collective, to be honest, most of their music just seems too disconnected for my taste, it lacks a distinct cohesion. That said, they do have a couple good songs, and I LOVE "Feels", so who knows.

They did play 21st Century Pop Song on their 2009 tour right before Eskimo Snow's release. I don't think Broder and Ericson are touring with them anymore, but seeing that song live was nothing short of amazing.

Also, I'm voting for Japandroid's Celebration Rock as album of the year for me. Reminds me a lot of DFA1979 but there's a lot more emotion and better hooks put into it. "Fire's Highway" is one of my favorite songs ever now.
