I don't believe in equipping 2 weapons. The switching animation takes forever and the way the engine works it's better to superbuff a single gun with great equipment than it is to half-rear end equipment on two different guns and waste a mod slot on ULM.

I run two guns on the Destroyer and the Demolisher, but no others. I'd theoretically run two on other soldier classes but, y'know, Destroyer.

If switching weapons was twice as fast as it currently is then I'd carry two. Sure I'm packing a Reegar on my back, but right now I have a Saber in my hands and a Phantom in my face and welp I might as well just try to get my Batarian on and club the bitch around the head with the assault rifle for all the good it'll do me.

The character spread is fine right now and I'd sooner have some greater variety in mission objectives and bad guys to fight than yet another character pack. A couple of the original classes could use a do-over as well. Yes, please. Zombies and Mercenaries would be great additions. Ideas for improving original classes: make singularity twice as big, repeatedly stun armored enemies for a few moments like it did in ME2, and work through shields/barriers (maybe at rank 6 or something). Give pull a similar work-through-shields evolution. Make Cryo Blast as badass as Snap Freeze. Make Combat Drone and Sentry Turret not just supportive but actually powerful in their own right. Give Concussive Shot, Incinerate, and Carnage even more damage. Give the drell vanguard 500 barrier strength instead of 250, maybe with a version of Slam that works through shields instead of Pull, and a 25% chance of no cooldown evolution in the racial passive.

Elotana posted:The Acolyte is actually not that efficient for stripping shields because you have to count the time you spend switching guns, charging the shot, and switching back. Unless your main weapon is incredibly lovely you're almost always better off just shooting more regular bullets. The Acolyte works really well for biotic caster classes, and especially the Fury. Biotic explosions are really rather weak against shields, and unless the boss mob is surrounded by juicy targets you're much better off killing the shields in like 1/10th the time it'd take biotic explosions to do. If you're good at bouncing shots off walls you'll have the target completely shield-stripped before it even walks around the corner. Also if you're somewhat up close (=Fury) Geth become much easier to deal with as well. Hunter approaches? Acolyte shot (which strips shields and staggers, so no dodging) closely followed by Throw gets rid of it in no time at all. Plus the projectile has some kind of electric effect as well, so unshielded enemies will stand there twitching as if you'd hit them with Overload. The only real drawback is the charge-up delay, so you need to make preemptively charging it up a habit. Otherwise 'oh poo poo' situations can become rather problematic, especially if you're impatient and don't wait for the charge to finish completely, leaving you standing there like an idiot without anything to show for it.

Only equip two weapons if you're not planning on using powers. For example, I run Krogan Sentinel like this and it works great. The only timed ability I have is tech armour, which I almost never detonate. For Krogan Vanguard, I stick with one lightweight shotgun (eviscerator X, usually, since it's 200% without putting points into carry weight) and I Always Be Charging.

I run with a Disciple and a Phalanx on my Kroguard because I don't want to be useless when I'm forced to be at range. 95% of the time I've got my Disciple out and am headbutting everything, but when there's a hack or escort, or the only enemies left are banshees, I don't want to be just loving around while my team does the real work. Charging around and killing everything else can only get you so far. There are also a number of my characters that carry a ULM geth SMG and almost never use it. Hitting ammo boxes at the right time gets to be second nature if you play enough, but sometimes you just can't afford to and it's nice to have a big ol' pool of ammo sitting in your back pocket instead of staring at "No Ammo" right below your reticule, as you vainly hope that powers alone will be able to get you out of the kind of situation where powers AND guns haven't allowed you to make it to an ammo box in the entirety of your chosen weapon's spare ammo. Basically what I'm saying is that just because you equip two weapons doesn't mean you have to actually use them more than once in a blue moon. And as long as you're not actually losing anything, you might as well. Felinoid fucked around with this message at 22:46 on Aug 23, 2012 |

The trick to getting the most utility out of two weapon setups is to focus on having a long range and a short range weapon. Trying to specialize for different defenses leads to having the wrong gun out with some rear end in a top hat in your face. This doesn't really happen with ranges since you know to keep your short range weapon equipped unless nobody is around. In general I do prefer one weapon setups but if you don't care about weight or you have a weight reduction passive like the humans it can be worthwhile to bring a spare.

I carry two weapons when it doesn't matter and could help me. All of my engineer classes have two weapons (usually go full caster, so guns like Indra, Piranha, Hurricane, and a side pistol have no appreciable effect on recharge speed). Sometimes, I will have a pistol as a long-range or more accurate alternative. Hit up GT: SA Prowler Prowler fucked around with this message at 00:38 on Aug 24, 2012 |

I'll play a silver at level 1 when I promote. It's pretty common for me to take top score. The best/worst was doubling the score of a level 20 Geth infiltrator with a GPSG X as a lvl 1 human eng. Part of it is having a scoped Talon and the other part is that they're playing Silver at level 20 for a reason.

I usually play a bronze after a promotion to give my guys a few skills. From level 12 or so on up I usually play gold and a few bronze matches after reaching level 20 is good stress relief, things just die so quick and the games are very quick and relaxing. Though in the last week I've just been starting silver lobbies for promoted level 1 characters and just waiting for people to join the third wave or so. Better credits that way and I can still hold my own just fine.

Two weapon chat: Now that the Pistol ULM is in and it makes SMG ULM works I really like a talon/paladin paired with a hurricane. I use the extended barrel or scope on the pistol and the HV barrel on the SMG so I can use the pistol for long range plinking and the SMG for guardians and laying into armored bosses. The pistol/smg switch animation is much faster than the long guns so you can swap very easily.

I got a friend who is in possession of a Scorpion VI. He wants to know how to get the best use out of it. Not having it myself nor seeing many people using it, I have no clue what to tell him. I did see a Destroyer using it pretty well against Geth by spamming the poo poo out of it, but I figure he could have been doing just as much damage with a Talon or other weapon. Any suggestions?
