I wish we got remakes of 2 and 3 with the same look as the REmake. I just can't get into the post-4 style.

I wouldn't go that far. Mikami departed early in the development cycle for RE5 and has a major design credit of some sort on every game in the series, so you can give him both credit and blame for everything.

It's probably more accurate to say that the remake is the last "classic" survival horror game in the series that doesn't have some kind of attached extenuating circumstances. RE0 was in dev hell for something like four years before it finally came out and the Outbreak games were multiplayer.

Mikami always seemed to have a really hard time moving on with the series after RE:CV, and if he hadn't blown it all up and started over with RE4, there's no doubt in my mind there'd be RE2/RE3 remakes in development right now.

RE2 remade in the style of RE4 is probably my dream game. It's a shame that it will most likely never happen.

Sections of RE6 look a lot like RE2 in a RE4 style, that's as close as you're going to get probably.

Whenever I play the Darkside Chronicles bits with RE2 and 3, I dream of how awesome remakes would be. Does Nintendo have REmake rights? My gc copy works fine but HD would be neat if they could rerender the backgrounds.

As I understand it, the remake and RE0 are both very specifically designed to run on the GameCube and would be prohibitively difficult to port to another platform.

One of the reasons Mikami ended up leaving Capcom was because he loved the GameCube and hated that RE4 ended up being ported to the PS2.

I know a lot of people who've said that, and honestly I can't quite agree. The series needed to move forward very badly, since roughly half the series to this date takes place in or around the mansion incident or the Raccoon City outbreak, and remaking RE2 or RE3 would just perpetuate that cycle. The entire RE franchise has a disturbing habit of crawling up its own rear end.

The unlocks were the only real weak part of that game, to be honest. The Samurai Edge was badass but I love me some infinite magnum or handcannon or whatever the hell. Sometimes you just want to pay back those Crimson Heads for those hours of torment with reckless abandon.

I find it hard to play the Remake now because of the loading screens and there is that minor pause when you are switching screens in the older games that I never noticed before, but now that I go back to them, it drives me up the wall.

I was hoping that the Wii version of the Remake would fix some of the problems but it is nothing more than a straight port.

Hey all, I've got a rather odd question. I did a Let's Play test post for Operation Raccoon City and said I was looking for other people to join me in the LP, since it is a co-op game. Someone replied and said it would be a good idea to check over here if any Resi fans had the game and would be interested in playing it and showing it off.

You don't need to record the game yourself yourself, all you need is a mic (for Skype), Audacity, and the Xbox 360 version of REORC. Thanks for your time :)

I'd like to see a Let's Play of this game. Did Capcom ever fix the bugs in it?

You'd have to give me specifics. The friendly AI is still terrible and the enemies still take way too many hits to kill. The boss fights are still way too difficult and scripted too.

I'm interested in this.

I haven't finished the game itself (either campaign) mainly due to the fact that I'd rather not try and slog through it by myself. Don't have many guns unlocked, but I do have all the characters' skills unlocked and upgraded to maximum (on a related note, I know the first level of the Umbrella campaign like the back of my hand now).

I'd need to get my hands on a copy of the game, but everything else I believe I am covered for. Sounds kind of fun. Are you planning to just do this as people are available or are you looking for people who are going to be able to do this on a schedule?

Mezurya

Really just depends on how many people will actually be available. If I get a bunch of people I can rotate but if it's just a few I can have a set amount.

I'm not the type to have a strict schedule. As long as I update once or twice a week I'm good, so I'd probably just record when people are available.

It's a lot more fun with other people, mostly because you can just laugh about how badly everything is going. When I was playing the mission with Mr. X in the lab I died and for about ten minutes I just kept loving with my friend and telling him that Mr. X was chasing him the whole time, and he'd freak out, haha

I have to say I had one of the funniest "stupid AI" moments ever with this game. It was towards the start of the game and there is this short staircase with 2 laser trip mines on the wall as you go up. I was stopping to shoot the mines and my AI teammate just runs right ahead and blows himself up on the first one, gets up, and proceeds to run right into the second one.

I was able to repeat this when I started a new game with my brother also. Just horribly stupid AI but drat if that wasn't so funny I had tears in my eyes.

I had something like that happen on that map in the Spec Ops campaign. AI partner ran right into the mine, got blown up, stood up, ran right into the next mine. The best part of this?

It was the team's demolitions specialist. Apparently the fastest way to disarm them is to set them off. :v:

Not giving a poo poo is Beltway's thing. And telling his superiors to go gently caress themselves.

What I'm saying is he's the best. He also has a robot leg.

Anyone on PS3 wanna run through ORC with me sometime? I saw the public library here had it so I got it out, but everyone who joins when I set to public always skips the cutscenes and it's not like RE5 where everyone had to agree to skip. I actually care about the plot, dammit.

My PSN ID is SonRyo, but let me know in this thread because I probably won't even turn on my PS3 otherwise.

Not really. The campaign is as bland and boring as can be. This game shines in it's multiplayer which aside from being a little on the unbalance side between teams (last time I played the skill Super Soldier was insane but both teams get a player who can use super soldier so it kinda balances out) was super fun.

The chaos of trying to beat the other team while huge BOWs try to rip you apart I found led to many cool experiences. Then the PS3 matchmaking broke and they took forever to fix it (is it fixed?) and I stopped playing.

I'm convinced that Slant-Six mostly made ORC with the pretense of it being a multiplayer game and then had to make a campaign or something at the last minute. The online play was actually pretty fun which I found shocking considering how laughably bad the campaign is.

Multiplayer can still have it's moments. I'm still amazed how nobody takes a medic seriously. I run with a shotgun and painkiller and even the supersoldier addicts go down.

I occassionally get a bit of rage just for beating the assault in a straight up fight. Painkiller is awesome.

I think so, yeah. They're all a lot more unique than the USS missions. Also the very first mission if free, so play that one so you can get a feel for it.

Just a warning: you have to fight Nemesis again, and he still takes way too much damage.
