Really missed Orange Goblin in the OP!

Orange Goblin - Red Tide Rising
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHxiouKy8Ho

Video is about half a year old and kind of lame but the song is awesome.

Saw thees guys at Sweden Rock Festival this summer, was one of the best shows of the festival in my opinion, only surpassed by bands such as Motörhead, Mastodon and Saint Vitus.

Was one hell of a festival.

Oh, David...
Haggatha are touring Europe right now, and you should go see them! They're hitting Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Croatia, Greece and France, among others. The full list of dates is on their bandcamp: http://haggatha.bandcamp.com/ Hopefully they can fill in some of the missing dates in time.

I caught the tour kickoff show last weekend, and it was a whole lotta sludge in a tiny little room: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10VMSMhlCxg

If you weren't aware, 40 Watt Sun is Pat Walker's (Warning Vocals) new project, and it sounds pretty much exactly like Warning. The Inside Room is a very good album.

Warning are a pretty unique band IMO, but these bands are similarish I guess:
Pallbearer
Ahab's new stuff

Those 2 are the closest I can think of personally although you might find some more that you like in the Last.fm similar artists page This is done on genre tags so recommendations should probably be taken with a pinch of salt.

I ran into SubRosa from that 40 Watt Sun youtube link. They're a really raw layered doom band with mostly female vocals and a some electric violin going on. I'm not usually into female metal vocals but this works well for me. Definitely worth checking out.

SubRosa - Beneath the Crown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzYqGAzunME
SubRosa - Borrowed Time, Borrowed Eyes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tsjP2F5jDQ&feature=related

Edit: I mean that in the least sexist way it can be taken. It's all about context I suppose. This type of music works well with a nice reverby clean voice. SubRosa really seems to offer something a bit different but still heavy as gently caress. I'm really digging this.

SubRosa - Inheritance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ivx1HrKqMpQ

The vocals and phrasing remind me of something familiar that I haven't been able to place yet...maybe a heavier Black Mountain?

Hopscotch Music Fest! It's almost hereeeeee! I plan on seeing a bunch of stuff anyway, but there isn't a whole lot of metal bands I'd heard of before. Just Atlas Moth and Valient Thorr, really. Does anyone know of any sweet stoner/sludge/doom that might be showing up to play in Raleigh this weekend?

VV Yeah, sunn o))) is on my must see list, along with Jesus and Mary Chain, at least part of Yo La Tengo, Deerhoof, Danny Brown, Killer Mike and Trash Talk (they're a punk band I guess who's taking Baroness's spot), but Pallbearer I had never heard of and I guess I didn't realize Black Tusk was even gonna be there. I missed Black Tusk last time they came around so I'll definitely try to catch that one.

I'm jealous. I would definitely see Pallbearer. These guys might be an acquired taste but Sunn O))) is also playing, You'd probably want to look them up before heading to see them. Also, Black Tusk. I guess Baroness is still playing, they were in a tour bus accident a few weeks ago. That's all I recognize. If it were me I'd probably try to catch The Jesus and Mary Chain too (not metal).

I'd be interested to see if more doomier heads than mine can pick out some more bands from the list. Here it is: http://hopscotchmusicfest.com/bands/2012/

Not sure it's really worth the 10+ years it took to produce, but the new Bedemon album is pretty drat interesting if you're an old school Pentagram fan.

Major bullshit. Shifting the sales to this early a date really fucks with me: the only band currently interesting to me is Electric Wizard, and even so, to a mild degree. None of the other bands tickle my fancy the slightest. Still, I'll probably buy two tickets because it won't be a problem to get rid of them if I decide not to go.

They only had one "album" you can find before this, right? (It's got a little girl on the cover if I recall)

If I have that, do I need this new one?

RIght. That was a compilation of various demos, bootlegs and what nots they they officially released in like 2005. This is a whole "new" album of material that was initially started in 2002 by original guitarist Randy Palmer. He also played guitar for Pentagram in the 70s and 80s. Just a few months after they began recording this album, he was killed in an automobile accident. This is the finished work 10 years later. If you liked the classic doom sound of the first couple of Pentagram albums, you should enjoy this. Some great riffs!

The CD version will be available to purchase from elektrohasch.de next wednesday, the 12th of September.

Also after a much longer wait then usual I got the testpressing for the vinyl last wednesday - but it doesn`t sound right. We are working hard to solve the problem but our vinyl manufacturer is extremely busy and therefore slow at the moment we can`t tell if we`ll have the DLP ready for our tour starting on the 27th.

No word on when it will be available through their distributors however. I'm psyched, I've been waiting for this album to be released for over a year.

I'll never forget when Headbanger's Ball introduced me to them. There used to be a segment where Lonn Friend some fat guy with glasses and a beard would talk about some cool new albums that people might not know about (I think he was from Rolling Stone or something). He held up Superjudge and I was like fuuuuuuuck! I ran out to buy it the next day. That was in heavy rotation my sophomore and junior years.
