Sadly, I can remeber fuel being 9 cents a litre and how much my parents hated it when it went up to 19 cents during the oil crisis / fuel strikes of the time.

Even sadder I bought it for my first car at approx 40 cents a litre. Now I think I got a bargin at $1.60 a litre.

No picture (didn't have a camera nor the time to take a shot even if I had) but today I saw... spinner rims.

On a minivan. Yes. It gets worse. Not only did it have spinners, it didn't even have them all around, only on the front or at least the front right. I didn't see the left but the right rear had what looked like a pretty standard early minivan wheel.

I used to see this all the time in lawrence and the crummy end of haverhill. Basically it is what happens when people who like spinners fail to use birth control.

A common cause of the two dubs/spinners, two steelies effect is a speedbump or series of potholes... or the owner being too poor to buy all four at once, in some cases.

One of the guys where I work has a Juke. He traded in a first gen Prius for it. So in that aspect he upgraded in looks. The best thing we have come up with for the headlights is that it looks like an alligator with just it's eyes above the water line.

As far as ugly cars go, check out the Honda Crosstour. That thing is disgusting. I want to punch the driver every time I see it in the parking lot.

Mine did too, until I told her how small it is on the inside (I think it's actually got a smaller interior than our Mazda3 hatch). At a glance it appeals to the I-want-a-crossover crowd but it is really, really small for a crossover.

The headlights are the same as the Nissan Leaf right? I think I saw on Top Gear that those headlights are designed that way to divert wind noise from hitting the side mirrors and distracting the driver since the Leaf is so quiet. Still doesn't explain why they use the same shape on the Juke, but there's at least a reason for headlights like that.

We have one as a sort of company vehicle where I work. I dunno if we just got a weird one, but brand new off the lot it literally stinks. Like a mix of seriously outgassing plastic/rubber carcinogens and foot cheese. It makes me ill just sitting in it. Also for such a small engine, it doesn't get particularly good gas mileage on the highway. Outside of boost that thing can barely get out of it's own way, really terrible turbo lag. I've almost been rear ended thinking i could merge onto a road with cars going ~40mph, and just been lagged to death.

Also the screen in the center console is ridiculously laughable. At first glance it seems neat, as you can flip between screens like boost gauge, or accelerometer, etc. But all of these "gauges" just have a resolution of 4 and absolutely no units. They light up a big chunk one at a time from 0 to 4 chunks. There's an ECO(still not sure if that stands for for "eco-friendly" or "economy") but it's basically the inverse of the boost gauge. Mash the pedal and it goes to 0 chunks, coast and it goes to 4 chunks. loving stupid. Dammit I hate that car.

Oh yeah that's great, my coworkers Lexus RX350 has one of those. In that thing the eco light is pretty much just a binary check of:

code:
are you touching the gas pedal?
If yes, light = off
If no, light = on
I really don't understand the point. The best part is that the thing has terrible mileage. The dash computer claims it's averaged 19mpg (on premium!) over the life of the car so far. Yep, eco friendly! :tipshat:
