If any of you watched 106 & Park freestyle fridays back in the day you might remember Loaded Lux. He made his return to the battle rap stage against Detroit's Calicoe. There was a lot of debate about this battle being unfair because Lux bringing in such things as a casket, a hearse, getting to go over time limits by a large margin and using a video screen. Mods do you mind if I post battle rap stuff in this thread? I don't think it takes up too much discussion and due to infrequency of major events it would not survive on it's own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1-z2hxXxKg

Hey dudes, there's been some good music released recently! And I'm gonna talk some of it! Pyramid Vritra released an album called "Pyramid". It's the solo work of one of the dudes from Jet Age Of Tomorrow (the oddfuture production/ambient music/whatever making group, who imo had some of their strongest releases despite getting almost no pub). I've actually been looking for this for about 6 months or so (since the first single was released) and it didn't disappoint in the least. I'd say it's similar to the jet age of tomorrow stuff, with a strong funk influence. Or, maybe like a Nujabees/Prefuse album that has a heavy funk/synth sound to it. Real cool album (if you're in to that kind of thing). There's also a guest appearance from Gary Wilson, which was cool. Lofty 305 from Metro Zu released a new album "RR". The rapping is, as usual hit-or-miss but isn't without charm (I've come to appreciate Metro Zu's singing/rapping/speaking hybrid stuff). But like all their stuff, the production is consistantly amazing. I'd think it would be interesting to hear a more lyrically-focused dude over some of their music instead of the spaced-out singing/rapping/talking they provide, but they got their own thing and that's cool too. Standout song has to be "Obliterate The Sun" for being one of the most interesting concepts for a love song. Definitely the poshest music out now. Also Joey Bada$$ has already dropped another mixtape, and it's arguably better than his previous one. A couple of the Pro Era beatmakers show up here, mixed with a bunch of production from more well-known dudes (and it's to the credit of Kirk Knight and Chuck Strangers that their music doesn't sound out of place next to Madlib, DOOM, 9th Wonder, Lord Finesse, etc). They seem to be getting a lot of notice recently for their more lyric-focused NY style and hopefully they can keep up the buzz because dudes can definitely rap. "Silent Night" is probably my fav track on here, really grim song.

I never thought I'd get to say this, but I have tickets to see Deltron3030 this Saturday. This comes only days after I learned that there actually is a new album forthcoming after the years and years of rumors. Crazy.

DMX chat, he has the best felony description ever: DMX Wikipedia posted:DMX was arrested in June 2004, at the John F. Kennedy International Airport, on charges of cocaine possession, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, menacing, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, while barking and claiming to be a federal agent and attempting to carjack a vehicle.[34] He was given a conditional discharge on December 8, 2004, but pled guilty on October 25, 2005, to violating parole Also I listened to snippets of his new album and it sounds like trash.

In reference to riff raff being discussed a few pages back, he released a video for "TERROR WRiST" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtrmZYR7ItY&hd=1 ) a couple hours ago. It's one of his more awful freestyles, coming from a fan, but poo poo it if isn't a new level for him to release it on 9/11.

Also I think there's another one they dropped, but not 100% sure (vulture burger iirc). Still surprised with the amount of music they put out the production stays so nice. Although it kinda reminds me of old Doom production in style, if not sound (very minimalist work-usually a sample or two with a drum pattern/synths over it).

I just find it hard to believe that the producers of the event had no idea he was going to use the video screen like they claim. Lux had to get the okay from somewhere. It's why I can't even judge this battle because it was so unfair.

One of them seemed like it was all instrumental stuff. Lofty released Intimacy Pt 2 a few weeks/a month ago, I think it's produced by Keyboard Kid. I really like it, it's all sing songy though. For some reason I like his singing even though it's objectively bad.

Also for whatever reason my tolerance for bad singing is way higher than for bad rapping (and he's not really much a better rapper than singer). Really the whole crew is extremely prolific, and the vast majority of their music is really good with is impressive. Have to say, I look forward to their releases as much as almost anyone now.
