Do not expect a good parts availability for a marque that hasn't been sold here since 1979. It's old, obscure, has issues, and will require a significant time investment. If you're in university it might not be suitable for you.

My light course load and minimal amount of work right now allows me to pour time into this.

Convert to non-sequential or single turbo. Front cover will need to be swapped to use factory '85 mounts, or fabricate FD-style mounting points on the FB (may not be possible due to steering gear in the way.) 13B-REWs have certainly been stuffed into FBs before. I'd love to do a turbo-FB myself. I am going to try the FC subframe swap on my SA22C eventually, to make it easy to drop an FC 13B in - early 13Bs are getting hard to find.

Not a great only car that you rely on to get to school. As a second car or a project, fine. Commuter, no. It depends on what breaks / how willing you are to swap something similar in, to be fair. A lot of the very basic parts can actually be obtained (maybe not same-day) via Autozone and the like. If you have time - and bonus points if you are willing to find another way to school once in a while - then you could be pretty well set by being very proactive with maintenance, and keeping some of the harder-to-get consumables on hand.

Here's the rub on it; I mean if you are looking for THAT wagon, I mean that year/make/model, the chances of you finding another in that shape for that price anywhere in the US, pretty much nil.

Just a fair warning for anyone who hasn't had to deal with it. Old, heat cycled aluminum can be terrifying to work with. That 215 is a cool motor, but every time you work on it, you'll want it to be room temperature, lest you pull threads.

Actual gold: http://reno.craigslist.org/cto/3249836898.html For sale is a gold metallic Volvo with a 2.4 liter fuel injected four cylinder engine that uses no oil. No drips. It has a 5-speed overdrive MANUAL transmission. Tan colored cloth interior and carpet. 153,000 miles on the odometer, well below average. The stereo is a factory AM/FM with a cassette player through 4 speakers. The timing belt, idler pulley, thermostat, belts and water pump were just changed. The cooling system was drained via the engine block petcock and the radiator as well, filled and flushed with distilled water, drained and refilled with Prestone coolant 60% and distilled water 40%. Power steering flushed with specified fluid. Tuned up with fresh spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap. 35 MPG highway. Includes Car Fax, lots of receipts and a good service history at Volvo dealers who stamped the maintenance schedule manual at recommended intervals. Heater works fine as well as the cruise control. Heated front seats. Two sets of original keys go along with it and the owner's manual. Service has just been completed. The transmission and the differential were recently drained and refilled also. Oil and filter just changed too. New air filter and gas filter. Four Wheel disc brakes are in very good condition, and a NEW matching set of Michelin Harmony all-season radials. Seats five. There is a few shallow dents in the body and a few chips and scratches, but all else is in good condition. Manual crank moon roof. Air conditioning is non-functional and may just need a recharge. No rust or corrosion. Clear title in hand. Spare tire, jack, wrench and tools. This reliable car of ours drives straight and smooth down the road. . ..just too many cars. Many Volvo aficionados claim the 240 is the best, most durable car Volvo ever made. Asking $3,250 Call Dan at 684-2829 or 882-7523
