That's less of an "oh gently caress I can't fit" as just a suspension malfunction.

How's that? The car high centered. The suspension was doing everything it was doing the same as it always had.

I seem to remember the consensus last time was that the car suddenly went into some sort of "oh gently caress" emergency protection mode. That was many beers ago, however.

The driveway needs a giant "DEBT" label with the limo being labelled "USA." I'll take my Pulitzer, now.

Mechanical fault or not, it's the presidents car in similar but more awkward predicament.

That was why I posted it. :)

That's supposedly exactly what it's supposed to do in the event of an "attack" on the bottom, to prevent further damage or intrusion. Of course none of this will ever be confirmed, because all of that stuff is top secret super spy poo poo that gets crushed when it's outlived its usefulness.

The real fun question here is would it do that at speed if something hit the bottom, and does full bump actually lay the bottom pan on the ground? Instant toboggan mode.

And a follow up....is there a button inside to undo that? Probably, but they put the drat bus in front of it so no one could see anything.

I'm pretty fascinated by the tech that must be built into that thing. It's a different kind of AI, but AI all the same.

Popular Mechanics seems to think it's actually built on a medium duty truck chassis, diesel and all. If nothing else, it's definitely running on tires meant for a heavy vehicle.

I've heard that before and to their credit it really looks like it's running on 22.5s which definitely supports that claim.

Also, just LOOK AT THE DOOR when the driver opens it. It's so drat thick.....so assuming the rest of it is similarly armored one would have to assume that thing is quite heavy and would need a truck-ish chassis.

that and the bullet-proof glass is supposedly only bullet-proof one-way. You can't shoot in, but the people inside can shoot out and the "glass" will have minimal impact on their accuracy.

It's due to the different internal stresses in the layers that make up the bullet proof laminate. :science:

They do make a bullet proof version from the factory :smug:. I believe its either a 760LI or a 750LI High Security edition... I am not to familiar with them though.

Though not nearly as "bullet resistant" as the presidents limo. But it still has quite a few of the same things... bullet proof glass, undercarriage explosion protection... but a 6.0L V12... I found an article that claimed that it could do 0-60 in 6 seconds or so, if I can find it, I will link to it.

For Aussies, that motor is a Holden Starfire ("Misfire"). Literally a red motor with 2 cylinders lopped off. It was quite capable of pumping out 78hp stock, and could propel this 1981 Toyota Corona to 100 km/h in under 18 seconds.
The Toyota Corona's blistering performance has been hailed with such praise as:- "having to shift down to drive over it's own shadow".

The one I owned had an analogue clock in place of a tacho, which was pretty appropriate. It would be time to shift up around 2:30 or so.

Unless he has a microcontroller in there that adds his speed to the perceived speed of the radar gun.

Which is exactly why all the new speed boards I've seen only show about 5 MPH over the speed limit before they flash SLOW. In my younger days, I used to treat them as games too, so I get it.
