IT'S YOUR BOY JESUS, MANE
I don't mind that much and don't care about resell value because I don't intend to sell any of my collection unless I somehow get really poor. Probably half my LPs have some sort of bent corner or minor cosmetic issue (most came that way from the shop because I bought them anyway). I'd still rather they wouldn't, that's all v:shobon:v

I'm not trying to be dickish, but why do so many people freak out about this kind of thing? I'd say more than half the time, the albums I buy/see in stores have some minor imperfection on the cover. As long as the disc is fine and the cover isn't completely destroyed I don't see what the issue is.

For me, when it comes to buying stuff online (in general, not just vinyl), you expect something that's not poopy when you pay decent money for it. When you pay $30 for a Blu-Ray on Amazon, and it arrives with a dented slipcover or cracked case, you wonder if they threw it into the box overhand, and debate if it's worth returning your damaged product that, yes, probably still works.

I work for my money, I'd rather not accept items at 75% value when I pay 100% of the price.

If I was buying a new record I would expect it to be and arrive in as new condition.

Buying anything second hand and not in person is a crapshoot.

Here's something cool I just got:

The flexibook release of Deerhoof's (really loving great) Breakup Song. It's six one-sided flexidiscs bound together, with the album and a bonus track. I guess since I was one of the first 50 orders, my copy came signed by the band.

Wait, what?

I kind of assumed no one would actually want to listen to the album via a bunch of flexis, and would own another copy of it somewhere else for actual listening, with the flexi book as a kind of "Check it out" type thing. It's a cool concept, but it seems not very functional. Plus, flexis don't really sound that hot.

It is really cool, though, and awesome that it was signed.

I've got the normal white vinyl release of the album, and will just listen to that. I listened to one of the flexis (the one with the bonus track, which I don't think is on any other release of the album?), and it actually didn't sound that bad.

I hope you guys get yours before you go see them. I'm seeing them at the beginning of November and can't wait. I've been wanting to see them live for years, but they never play Florida.

By the way, if any of you haven't heard it, the band put the full album on YouTube.

For those that have yet to see it and are interested, Outer Isolation is finally coming out on vinyl on Dec. 12th. They've got new album art for it. I'm not sure if I like it as much as the original art, but it's still petty cool and little more in keeping with the style of Black Future's art.

Oh nothing bugs me more when people say "This brand new record I got has a skip in it!" That's life. The last record I got with a skip in it was Best Coast's "The Only Place," but fortunately, that was in between the tracks, so it became like a 3rd side!

I know this is from the last page, but I have to agree with the other person in this case. Skipping is not a cute by-product of the analog age, it is totally unacceptable for a brand new record to do this. The product is either defective, the turntable is not properly aligned, or it is a terrible cheap piece of poo poo. I have thousands of records from the entire history of the LP as a format. I could count the ones that skip on both hands. It's usually literally sand in the groove, working the needle back through the area has always fixed it for me. Even discs that have deep gouges that look like they almost make it through to the other side will play through. And this is with an m97 within the recommended force range.

The source is now a dead link, but all the music was left over to Ian Johnstone, Jhonn's partner and a good friend of Sleazy, after Jhonn died. Chris Carter is also supposedly going to have a hand in this, but I'm not sure.

Nothing is written in stone yet, but reissues have been talked about.

Yeah, the rumor that I had heard was that Chris Carter was given everything. I'm sure thought that if some of the super early material such as the Sickness of Snakes stuff is being rereleased something might be on the way. Of course the thing to do is probably just keep an eye on Soleilmoon, since they received a ton of CD material immediately after Sleazy died.

I'm having difficulty confirming that the second LP will have the bonus tracks, but everything seems to indicate it. It's not like the album needs 2LPs. And it says 'Never before released on vinyl' at Interlude so, I'm pretty drat certain.

They could've worded it more clearly though.
