Kinda late to the party, but I finished up two thirds of the demo!

And I can't believe they did away with the tank controls. If they only retained the PSX1 era inventory style, it would be my favourite RE game ever. :allears:

I wonder if they are including full splitscreen this time.

Thanks, gave it a spin, got told my gamertag isn't valid(even though I logged onto it prior to using it check). Now it says a required component for GWFL is missing and the program refuses to start again.

If I try to start RE5 from my steam list it just crashes. I loving hate DRM so goddamn much.

Just got a text from EB Games saying my RE6 preorder is available to pick up as soon as the stock arrives in a few hours. Apparently we got a surprise early release in Australia!

No doubt Capcom learned it was a long weekend/beginning of school holidays and smelled money, but hell, I'm not complaining.

Having played the demo, I hope the ability to ignore gunplay and just going around beating the poo poo out of zombies and not-zombies isn't just a symptom of the demo being in Very Easy and an actual viable strategy. Since I had way more fun going "gently caress it" and sprinting over to melee the poo poo out of everyone that looked at me funny. Jake's unarmed Wesker Kung Fu ability has me hopeful.

That said of the three demos Chris' was boring as hell. Even going around beating up stuff his moves sucked and that mid-boss in the middle was bulletspoungey and tedious as all hell. Plus a timed escort/point defense mission. That's always great.

Oh well. I've played every single game in the series. I'll give this one a go. And feel uncomfortable they turned not-Newt into an action chick with the camera zooming on her rear end all the time.

But I've yet to figure out a better way to spend my time.
The Stamina Bar probably severely limits the feasibility of melee-only gameplay. Kick too many zombies in the head too quickly and bam, you're helpless.

Especially since it's weird and finicky; sprinting doesn't reduce my stamina, but kicking a crate open does?

This might be the first RE I'm going to skip, I can't believe how unenjoyable Chris and Jake's campaigns were. Leon's wasn't anything special either, the whole thing reminded me of ORC which is not good.

As far as I could tell (I barely paid attention to be honest) R1 actions without holding L1 use up 1 block each, and Quick Shot (L1 + R1 together) takes up 1 block. Melee actions with weapons don't take up any, but I think Jake's melee command does? I'm not 100% on that.

Also the boss in the middle of Chris' demo...just climb the scaffolding and shoot his back, then jump on him, rip off a bit of him and shove it inside himself. Took about 20 seconds.

Okay also, ways to make it all more enjoyable. Turn off the lovely crosshair and put the Laser Sight back on, turn off auto reloading, and sprint/slide/knife everything.

I have literally no doubt that it will be in the game, but I also have no confirmation of this. I can't imagine they would take it out considering it's been in Resi 5, Mercs 3D, and Revelations (If you count Raid mode), and it's no doubt the most popular and DLC-friendly part of the game.

This is my thing. The thought still in my head was that Capcom looked at O:RC, and thought, 'Yes, this is a suitable product to represent one of our main franchises' and slapped a PUBLISH stamp on it.

Then again I get a nice discount from where I work, and at least this game looks to have a actual story that might be worth wading through questionable gameplay to see.

I'm on chapter 3 of Leon's campaign. Good fun, but I'm thinking maybe picking Veteran from the off was a bad idea. If I had an early complaint it's that enemies get too many animations with invincibility frames and PCs get too few.

I love the melee button now that I've gotten used to it, exploding zombie heads via roundhouse kicks with Leon never gets dull. Don't think the suplex is in the game though :smith:

Also the game is going to be pretty lengthy, I've just finished chapter 3 with Leon and it's taken around 4 hours. 5 chapters per character plus an extra campaign with Ada, and mercenaries to dick around in.

Oh gently caress yes. ORC doesn't live up to its promise, it doesn't mess with the canon as much as they promised (hilariously it actually makes the series more consistent by showing what was going on in the background), it's cheaply made, it's generally average but

I was able to execute Leon and shoot Claire in the face. Full group of players and it was my character who got the pithy one liner and execution. :colbert:

It's an odd game, really. The actual game side of it is quite quick and shallow but the sheer amount of variation in character interactions (different characters do different things to different people in the same cutscene depending on your group), and there's a ton of callbacks and loving references to the rest of the franchise. Feels like there should have been far more to the game.

Yeah, it's actually pretty good about the canon right up until the second to last Wolfpack mission.

The Echo Six DLC, on the other hand, gives no fucks.
