why the hell would you need specific terms for modern technology in a dead language my supervisor in grad school was from ireland and loved to make fun of all the gaelic technology terms. they have this requirement there that all government publications be available in gaelic but of course there is no gaelic word for, eg. "internet" so they invented some special word with proper gaelic orthography that no one has ever heard of. meanwhile everyone who actually speaks the language uses a portmanteau of the form "t'ainternet". apparently this makes irish people talking about technology sound more like english speakers making fun of irishmen, which she thought was hilarious

speaking of languages http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%27Armond_Speers#d.27Armond_Speers quote:Speers is known for having undertaken the endeavour to raise his child bilingually in English and Klingon; Speers spoke in Klingon and his wife in English.[3] A few years into his life, the child began rejecting Klingon and gravitating towards English, as he could use English with many more speakers. At the time of Speers' attempt, Klingon even lacked words for many objects common around the house, such as "table". The experiment ultimately failed when the child refused to use Klingon when he got older.

if you know another language you should speak it exclusively at home because kids' brains are sponges for language and they'll pick up english super quick from everywhere else in the outside world

Big the Cat Big the Cat (ビッグ・ザ・キャット Biggu Za Kyatto?) is a large, purple anthropomorphic cat with yellow eyes and long ears who first debuted in Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. Big is laid-back[36] and easygoing, which is reflected in his speech.[37] Strong but gentle[37] and a little slow,[38] he lives a normally peaceful life in the jungle with his best friend "Froggy."[37] He loves fishing, and he is never without his favorite rod and lure.[36]
