I have only ever detonated barrier on accident. Am I missing out on something?

It's situational at best. It's not exceptionally powerful, but it's a tool in the arsenal you shouldn't forget.

Plopped it on the N7 Destroyer with heat sink, heavy barrel, SMG amp III, and AP ammo III. It's hilarious. Zero recoil, accurate enough to headshot from across London, and nearly instant reload so you never stop firing--it chewed everything up, phantoms, Atlases, Dragoons. I got the challenge to 42% from the one game alone. I actually kind of like the Hornet, I've been grinding it recently. Doesn't punch especially hard but aside from the recoil it's fairly accurate even at range. Good weapon for casters.

Can anyone give me the lowdown on how to make an overpower Kroguard? I haven't been playing multiplayer too long but have gotten a fair amount of guns; I've been using a Pirahna I as I'm not sure what weapon to use, specced for weapon damage rather than melee for surviveability. I want to melt some faces though so any build tips or whatever would be nice as I haven't even played Vanguard on Single Player before so I'm kind of clueless. E: literally just got the Graal a minute ago. Not sure if the weight difference is worth it though, even specced for shotgun weight reduction. I am at 160% with the piranha an would be at 110 with the Graal... rio fucked around with this message at 08:42 on Oct 19, 2012 |

You spec Biotic Charge for shield recovery and max out Barrier and the two passives, taking damage reduction for barrier, and then you just punch and shoot everything. Take a Talon if you have one. On another note, anyone got a missile-centric build for N7 Destroyer? I am hearing good things about it. I am also now a Mathemagician Biotic God.

Ok, so I need to fill out one more skill for Mathemagician and I've got these left: -Sentry Turret -Geth Turret -Tech Armour -Combat Drone but none of the pets have flamethrower and I've got no respec cards left. What's a good way to do this?

I can't comment on Combat Drone; I gave up on it after my level 20 Human Engineer was kicked from two successive Gold lobbies.

Sentry Turret and Geth Turret we're both getting leveled up when I was using Geth Engineer so do that unless it was a bug on my part?

Having Atlas [Tech Armour] come up in the bottom is both hilarious and slightly depressing. Combat drone took me 4 random games with me leaving it near enemy spawns where it chocked up assists and occasionally finished off damaged enemies. I'm almost at Mathemagician now, and I've got 200 tech bursts from playing the Vorcha Sentinel (flame explosions count)

There must be a challenge point cheat. I keep running into people with 4000 plus points that can't play worth poo poo. I just randomed into a game with three other guys all between 4100 and 4800, and did more than double all their scores added together. In spite of the fact that I spent a large percentage of my time running around reviving them. I'm not bad, but I'm not all that good. Also, I'm really impressed with the Indra. I tried it out on a Destroyer for the first time today, after a PSP took it up to level VIII. I didn't think I'd like anything better than the Harrier, but I may have been wrong.

I've been on pretty frequently since the DLC hit and only have 1300ish challenge points, although I could see getting 4000+ if you were doing nothing but grinding factions and weapons on Bronze or Silver. Incidentally the people I've seen with lots of CP all have names like KBOSEC_RU and are, utterly useless in all situations.

I prefer a mix of weapon and melee damage but you can specialise either way if you want. I'd say definitely take the last 2 melee options in fitness though as shield recharge is useless to a vanguard and you want rage up and running as much as possible. Theres a lot of options you can take but heres an example which works well for me: http://narida.pytalhost.com/me3/classes/#53PAQLOq9%400%40A%40%40O4L4%400%400 You shouldnt have any trouble with survivability as a kroguard. Remember your ABC's: Always Be Charging. Constant shield refills from charge plus a lot of damage reduction from barrier and rage make you very hard to kill. Get in close with charge and draw fire away from your more delicate team mates. Fire your piranha between charges and melees. The piranha is a good choice because you want to keep your cooldowns above 150% or so. Also this is a bit of a "One Wierd Tip" for the kroguard which not many people seem to know about. If you hold the melee button during a charge you will melee straight after you hit something, which is a great 1-2 combo and very useful for finishing off shielded enemies and doing extra damage to bosses.

I've got the Graal and power related challenges done for Blood Pack but it's beginning to hit me how severe the character waves completed challenges are. It's the equivalent of 20 complete games each with five characters to get the banner which is probably going to take me forever and burn me out on all of those guys. My closest one right now is batarian sentinel at 77/200. I might go for one of the gun ones instead.

Managed a couple gold/collector extractions last night with completely random pick-up groups! I was able to help the team significantly with a fire-bursting krogan sentinel wielding a hurricane II. I should be on a significant amount tonight if anyone wants to try a full krogan slap-squad. e: I haven't really done poo poo-all with challenges, though I like the idea. I hope people aren't judging my skill level on my measly 100+ challenge points. TheDK fucked around with this message at 16:25 on Oct 19, 2012 |

I like the concept of challenge points, they're intended to add variety to the game and encourage you to play with new classes/weapons/maps/factions. Unfortunately the skill threshold for racking up challenge points is very very low, and as with most point systems you have people grinding at it so those at the top are basically those people who have found a way to exploit the system rather than those who are "good" at the game If I look at people's challenges for screening purposes, I look for -has the person solod platinum -squad/map mastery (what difficulty does this person generally play on) -does this person seem to have a relatively small number of first aid medals For everything else the fastest method is soloing bronze repeatedly

Quick question- for the weekend challenge, can we set the game to private so we can solo it? My KroGuard doesn't like anyone shooting his punching targets. Also suggested maps/opponents? Any equipment tips? Also, I am assuming bronze has enough enemies if you solo it and punch them all you get the Gold. Is that correct?

How the gently caress do you look at people's challenges for screening purposes? That sounds like a huge pain in the rear end compared to just making sure they're level 15+ with a decent gun. If you solo a game on PC set origin to invisible so your stupid friends don't join and negate the solo credit (sorry UM )

I don't know if the Scorpion is generally considered a good weapon, but drat that thing is way to fun to be ignored. I got it yesterday and ended up playing 3-4 matches just to see things blowing up left and right. Atlas was specially fun, as it is very easy to glue 4 mines onto it from pretty much any distance. Playing with a Salarian Eng, stagering mobs with Energy Drain, glueing them with those grenades and staring in contemplation as they were blow to bits.
